“Great hotel, amazing food”
Hotel staff was very helful, they even washed my car free of charge after some pigeions did a numer on it. Watch out where you park. The food at their restaurant was amazing, I'd give it 5 stars, highly reccomend the lamb. Bar was nice too with live music. Breakfast was good in an amazing setting, some cool history in the trafalgar room. Iwould definately stay here again!
“Wonderful old pub”
Spent 2 nights here recently & would thoroughly recommend it. The great location, good food, amazing breakfast room, & our huge room made it a wonderful stay & good value. As with many old pubs it is a bit of a haul to get the suitcases to the room, but we use a small overnight case & just put what we need in it. Makes life easier. Must visit St Michaels Mount while staying in this area & the quaint little town of Mousehole.
“First rip to Penzance”
we enjoyed our stay at the Union, friendly, professional staff, perfect poached eggs, the bar food was excellent and on Friday, Saturday evening and Sunday lunch time live music made our first trip to Penzance one that we will treasure.
“Blood-stained sheets, wafer thin walls and pidgeon droppings all over my car. Uugh!!”
A hotel to avoid! First the positives, though. The check-in staff were helpful and friendy and the hotel itself is well situated in the centre of town and with easy access to the seafront. We also enjoyed a huge, cooked breakfast in the morning. On the downside, on turning the sheets back to our bed after a late night out we discovered they were bloodied and had quite obviously been used before and left unchanged. The pillows collapsed to nothing and the bedsprings had clearly seen better days as well. Wafer-thin walls made it feel as if passers by were actually walking through the room, which made it impossible to sleep after 6am when the early risers made their way to breakfast. If that wasn't enough, when I returned to my car the following morning to make our escape, we found it was literally covered with at least 40 deposits of poo and feathers from the pidgeons that reside in the barn used for resident's parking. My skin still crawls at the thought of it all.....
“Don't go here if you want any sleep!”
The car park was a building site, we arrived at 8.30pm only to have to go in to the bar area to find our key! We were given a room directly above the bar where they had a live band playing. When we asked to be moved the owner/receptionist was not very understanding about what did we expect and ofcourse he didn't advertise live music on the website! The room we were moved to was right on the roadside and the TV didn't work, we ended up listening to people leaving clubs at various times all through the night, which is not ideal when you are trying to get a two year old to sleep or if you wanted to sleep yourself. The room decoration was dated and poor quality, the pictures were far from tasteful and the bathroom was tired and dated- overall I would never visit the hotel ever again!
