We had an excellent stay at the hotel. The staff were helpful and went out of their way to accommodate our nervous dog. Setting was relaxed and peaceful, staff helpful and food great. We will be be back

I fancied an impromptu trip to Cornwall and found this brilliant little hotel The small family staff team were incredibly welcoming and lovely, and went out of their way to help you with any questions The restaurant provided excellent quality service and food in a convivial atmosphere I would highly recommend this hotel and will be delighted to stay there again in the future

Amazing place
The service in this hotel is second to none. We felt welcomed from the beginning and it was not only at reception. The same service was found throughout the hotel (including the restaurant and the bar). We were very impressed with their facilities and the way the staff went out of their way to satisfy our needs. The only issue that we found is that the charge for the dog should be made clear from the first day. But this is just a detail.

This is a lovely hotel in a beautifully, quiet and peaceful setting. The hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. With a little more attention to detail this hotel could be outstanding. Eg individual complimentary toiletries, restaurant staff training, music in bar area for ambience etc. These are tiny details as we had a wonderful stay at this hotel. So convenient for getting about the area too. Would definitely stay again.

Quiet retreat
A wonderful place to find. Tucked away from all things busy. Lovely grounds, good car parking, friendly reception staff and excellent restaurant service. Dinner was good quality and sensible portions.

This hotel is a little dated. It felt like it was back in the eighties. Not a very warm welcome and the dining experience was just ok. On the night we dined in the restaurant there was only 5 other tables a total of 12 people. The service was very slow and we witness two people sending their meals back due to it not being cooked properly. I felt this hotel lacked soul, a big old house with no warmth.

Great Hotel, beautiful location - amazing food!
A warm welcome from friendly, knowledgeable staff. The room we booked had everything we needed with a nice en-suite & lounge area. The hotel has plenty of space inside and out with well kept grounds. Please, please try the restaurant, the meals from the highly trained resident chef Tom Bennetts during our stay was amazing, he uses local sourced produce and is a local lad. The hotel is perfectly located for exploring the county of Cornwall, the north coast is just 5-10 minutes drive and the south coast is 30-40 minutes. With Lands End just 50 minutes drive. Oh don't forget to walk just 5 minutes up the lane to the village pub! A peaceful, super quiet getaway!

Excellent hotel except for dining room has very little character and menu choice is a little limited. Would suggest table cloths would help as some table ( varnish) was getting a little tired.

Long journey well worth the stay in a lovely hotel
A really enjoyable few days away for our 60th wedding anniversary. We were very pleasantly surprised by the present of a drink for our anniversary from the hotel, Thank you very much. Bathroom could do with having more space provided for toilet gear

A Gem of a Country House Hotel
A lovely country house hotel in a beautiful tranquil location. The owner is outstanding and went out of his way to arrange various tickets for us. Happy to recommend to the discerning traveler.

.room was impossible to sleep in with the heat,a small fan was given,but having a fan on you all night...Looked forward to eating in the restaurant but never used it after finding out a dress code was in use,shame.we ate out instead and never felt at ease at the the hotel after that.

Stayed here on the recent long 4 day bank holiday weekend - was very cute, quiet, and charming. The grounds are very well kept, and so are the rooms. My only reservation is the breakfast - it wasn't that great, which is a shame. Just could of been more tasty, wholesome and original. Don't get me wrong it wasn't terrible, but I just wouldn't have breakfast there again if i had the choice. We never tried the Lunch or Dinner. On our stay we drove around up and down the coast to places like St Ives in the South West and Polzeath in the North East - hotel was very well located to access the roads and to get going. St Agnes is a cute little village - i would recommend a short drive to St Anges beach/sea front which is like 7mins drive away through the country lanes, well worth the visit. Best fish and chips in town and the Coffee shop Genki is one not to miss!

The location of this hotel was just beautiful, upon arrival the owner came out to help us with our bags, then sat and talked with us whilst we had a drink in the bar.The rooms were simply amazing, beautifully decorated and very clean. The food was also very good and the staff were all very helpful and pleasant. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The Rose in Vale is a fantastic - great for a long weekend getaway. Staff was very helpful, grounds are very nice and both the breakfast and dinner was excellent. Tucked away, but easy to get to the local sites and nearby beaches and towns. Very happy with the Rose in Vale!

A fine country house hotel
Everything was exactly as you would expect from a fine hotel in the West of Cornwall. The staff were very friendly and efficient. My only minor criticism is that the restaurant's evening menu was a trifle limited.

Really cute hotel, there was actually a small wedding going on (very beautiful, all white, about 25-40 people). Perfect for couples who want a home away from home in a foresty green environment. The only thing I would say that I didn't like is that they were pretty strict about noise level after 11pm (we we're drinking wine/playing card games with some of the people from the wedding after hours and they politely told us to keep it down for the other guests). Also, they close the hotel at 11pm so you have to have a security code to get in. So not the right place if you're trying to stay out late and party but perfect for a relaxing, quiet get-away.

This is a quaint but updated old manor house hotel. The staff was very considerate and helpful. It is a little out of the way but worth the effort to find with beautiful grounds.

Sehr schön gelegen, sehr gutes Personal, leider entsprach das gebuchte Zimmer nicht dem tatsächlichem Zimmer. Hier wäre es schön, wenn ein entsprechender Abgleich stattgefunden hätte. Frühstück englisch und gut, Abendessen könnte die Karte etwas ausgeprägter sein. Qualität aber gut und in der Gegend sind viele Restaurants.

Grösser als erwartet
Das ehemalige Landhaus wurde vor Jahren durch Anbauten enorm vergrössert. Dadurch ist es heute ein gepflegtes, luxeriöses , aber auch etwas unpersönlicheres Hotel. Das Zimmer war zwar im ersten Stock hatte aber keine Aussicht. (Steiles Wiesenbord) Objektiv gibt es wenig zu bemängeln. Die Fotos vom alten Herrenhaus täuschen aber ein spezielleres Ambiente vor.
