Usually when your sat nav directs you down a narrow lane you become very suspicious! In this case the sat nav was correct and the hotel lies tucked away round the corner but literally 25 meters from the beach. The hotel has been updated very sympathetically form its former Victorian glory. The decor and furnishings were tasteful and pleasing to the eye. The receptionist was both polite but informally friendly and helpful. We chose a room without a sea view but with a small balcony; we only stayed one night and with uncertain weather, we didn't want to pay the extra. The room was compact, as was the en suite shower room, but the bed was very comfortable. For the evening meal, no hot food. but he hotel serve cold platters to order. This was no problem as the centre of St Ives Quay was minutes walk away, along the sea front and it had a wide choice of pubs and restaurants. The full Cornish breakfast was amazing, bacon and sausage being organic and locally sourced. Lovely flavours! Even the brown sauce was organic!
In summary, a very well and tastefully appointed hotel with pleasant, friendly and helpful staff
Lovely quiet setting, with wonderful hosts. A choice of B&B and self contained cottage/apartments. Accommodation was very comfortable and absolutely spotless. Hosts are friendly and can't do enough to make you feel at home. Complimentary cream tea on arrival was gorgeous and the Cornish breakfast (with hogs pudding) an absolute treat. If you book a self contained cottage you don't have to miss out on this breakfast as all the makings can be provided by Barbara. Just don't ask for her scone recipe though as it is her other half Mark who is responsible for those.
Elegant, modern, peaceful and absolutely comfortable: if you’re going to St Mawes in South West England, this luxury guest …More
As ever we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. This hotel remains my favourite (worldwide). The birthday party was perfectly arranged by the events coordinator, with the absolute minimum of fuss. This is the third such event they have organised for me.
Beautiful property 5 minute drive from Padstow. Molesworth Manor is a 17th Century former rectory. We received a warm welcome and tour of the facilities from Geoff on arrival, he even pointed out the "honesty bar" which is something we have never come across before. Very good breakfast served by a very sweet waitress.
Sorry we only had time for the one night.
