“A bit out of the way”
Nice hotel but no lift. Our room had an excellent view of the hotel opposite with the sea behind it. The food is okay, hot. The nearest town, Charlston, is worth a visit and its museum. But its quite a long walk along a path which is hemmed in by hedges most of the way so you can't see very much.
“Great location”
We were overall very satisfied with our stay here. We had some issues with the shower temperature, and the lack of a lift and having to walk up to the second floor wasn't easy after spending all day walking around the Eden project. But the location is fantastic, walking distance to the beach and Charlestown (which we loved), and driving/cycling distance to St Austell and the Eden project. The breakfast was really good too.
“Very small room”
Hotel in good location for Eden Project and other Cornish sights. Some hotel staff a bit indifferent and slow in offering service. Good breakfast (although the catering manager needs to ensure that they don't run out of breakfast items, as happened with us), mediocre evening meals. Overall a reasonable hotel for the price.
“shame the hotel information was incorrect”
on arrival we asked where the swimming pool was only to be told it was closed untill spring next year. as this was our criteria for booking it was a big dissappointment from the start. the in room folder even had the pool down as being open until 31st october so what was that all about.on leaving and going to pay the bill we were overcharged for our evening meal put right when pointed out.shame about these points as other wise the hotel was comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful.
“Breakfast chaotic”
Our room was very small. Service at breakfast was chaotic on several days. Not enough staff.Staff not properly organised. Shortage of fresh fruit . Unacceptable delays in getting served. Tables not cleaned between guests. Evening menu uninspiring and overpriced. Swimming pool not open - considered unacceptable.
“Needs work”
The room I stayed in had a broken window and a small bottle wedged in it to stop it rattling. Not impressed.
