“Lovely charming hotel on a hill”
This hotel was lovely, with nice big rooms that were clean. The charm lies in the quaintness of the building, you can tell that's it's old, but it's not run down. I loved the fact that it was a maze to get to our room! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend it when staying in Cork.
“Couldn't believe our luck to book here.”
We had to cancel one of our hotels because we hadn't gotten as far in our journey as expected and expedia found us this at the last minute. It ended up being the nicest hotel we stayed in for our entire trip, including Ashford Castle. The evening desk clerk was extremely helpful. We really couldn't believe our luck to get this room. Great location. Would definitely recommend to any one staying in the area.
“Needs some money spent on it.”
This hotel has all the ambience of a tired 1930' s hotel. Needs to be modernized!
“Can't wait to go back!”
The Ambassador was one of the 2 nicest places we stayed at (the other being a castle which was MUCH more expensive!). Imagine our surprise when we check in and find that we were upgraded to a better room with a view looking out over the entire city of Cork. We personally liked Cork much more than Dublin and I am sure part of that was because of this hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It is only about a 15 minute walk to downtown (which caters to foot traffic). You do not want to drive in Cork so the free parking at the hotel is really great as well. The room was huge and spotless. That being said---if you do not have a GPS and are planning to drive in Ireland--you are seriously delusional. The streets are not marked like they are in North America and we would never have found it without it. Save yourself the headache and get the maps on your GPS. You'll be glad you did. Stay in Cork at the Ambassador so you can see some of the "real" Ireland.
“Good Spot”
Great hotel, huge room and very helpful staff. The fitness center was a little disappointing but not the worst I've seen and didn't spoil my visit in any way.
“Very friendly staff.”
I highly recommend this comfortable Hotel to anyone who needs parking. A peacefull location. A bit out of Cork City up a hill.
“Very Impressed”
My sister and I travelled to Cork from Derry to a conference held in the hotel. I drove the 314 miles to get there and back. We had a lovely time at the hotel, making full use of the Hotel's Health & Fitness Suite. Breakfast was very tasty and so was our evening dinner...absoultely delicous in fact. I would recommend this hotel to others and hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
“Very good hotel on a beautiful building”
The hotel is located on a hill overlooking the city. The building itself is a beauty inside and outside. Each floor is separated from the stairs by a wood and glass divider. The stairs were decorated with big paintings with golden frames. Our room had long windows and from there we had a view of the city. The bathroom was very clean and had beautiful and shiny tiles. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant. The food was good as well as the service. The girl at the from desk was very helpful. The hotel was a little bit difficult to find. We printed Google directions coming from the east and they took as through very narrow streets were we couldn't even read the signs (it was already dark). It was a real nightmare! Fortunately, we also had printed a map of the location. After we found St. Patrick's Quay it was easy to get to the hotel from there.
“hotel with character”
The reviews are spot on about this hotel. The hotel itself is very pleasant but it is up a steep hill and there's really nothing near by. Most people were taking a taxi for €5 each way to avoid the walk. I had dinner in their bar and it was tasty and good value. Would definitely stay here again even with the steep hill. The parking lot was full when I arrived and all of the street is controlled parking. A lot of people double parking and can be difficult to get in and out.
“Lovely hotel, great room, good service,”
This is a lovely place to stay -- it only has one problem, and that is that it is a steep uphill walk from the lively streets of Cork. If you're up for that, I would recommend it highly.
