“Overall a Nice Place to Stay”
The staff that checked us in were mostly friendly. They made sure to point out that because of the rate that was booked on line, that it did not include breakfast and that there would be an extra charge. We went down one morning and the lady asked for our room number and told us to go in. I assumed that the payment would be due at the end of the meal before we left. A lady came in and spoke with the girl and then came straight over to the table and informed us that we must pay for the meal and asked how we intended on doing that. We paid with the card at the reception desk. The next morning I went to the reception desk to pay first and they told me to go ahead and enter and they would take the money inside. They were a lot nicer the second day. I booked here to use the swimming pool, but I didn't get the chance. However, you must wear a swim cap while in the pool. This was also one of the factors that turned me away from the pool. I am not sure if the desk that you check in at gives you the caps or not. On one of the nights when we returned from an evening out, the entry doors were locked and we had to ring the bell. There was a guy standing in the entry way between the 2 entry doors smoking inside the facility. I assume he was a customer that didn't want to step out in the cold. The staff was very quick to get to the door and let us in, yet nothing was said to the man who was smoking inside. However, the food was good and so was most of the service.
“THANK YOU MALDRON”
Overall it was a very comfortable place to stay and I can't say enough good things about the staff, particularly Mary and Dennis at the front desk! They were so very helpful and pleasant. If we return to Cork, we would most definitely stay here again.
“Just OK”
Hotel OK and would stay again BUT will try another first
“Good central location Cork”
We were three adults sharing - good spacious room and we all enjoyed hotel leisure facilities (pool, steam room and jacuzzi. Hotel bar service let down the team: extremely rude staff, not being able to provide the range of food/coffees advertised, calling out hotel room numbers that other guest could hear and short hours. Reception staff were polite and helpful.
“No parking”
I had to check out and leave at 7am because there is just no parking at this hotel and did not want to get ticket or clamp in main street. The whole thing was just so stressful. Room overlooked and looked like was built in a grave yard with old church ringing every 15 minutes. If you are driving there is simply no point staying at this hotel unless you plan to leave at 7am.
“Caution: You get what you pay for.”
Our trip to Ireland was fantastic...except for our 2 days in Cork. The hotel room was dingy, there was no fan available until the second day, and the bathroom was just icky. There was plywood under the sink and behind the toilet. The paint was peeling on the ceiling, and the window would not actually open more than a few inches. With a singular exception, the staff was unfriendly and often brusque. The neighborhood was so seedy that we were afraid to go out to dinner. Overall, not a great experience.
“Not impressed”
Dirty, smelled of smoke will not return
“Not Good!”
The Maldron Hotel in Cork is pretty tired and run-down.
