“Not impressed”
Dirty, smelled of smoke will not return
“will definately use this hotel again.”
Great for the shops and surrounding areas, came to visit my grandaughter and found we were literally just up the road--- perfect!
“Not Good!”
The Maldron Hotel in Cork is pretty tired and run-down.
“Just OK”
Hotel OK and would stay again BUT will try another first
“Caution: You get what you pay for.”
Our trip to Ireland was fantastic...except for our 2 days in Cork. The hotel room was dingy, there was no fan available until the second day, and the bathroom was just icky. There was plywood under the sink and behind the toilet. The paint was peeling on the ceiling, and the window would not actually open more than a few inches. With a singular exception, the staff was unfriendly and often brusque. The neighborhood was so seedy that we were afraid to go out to dinner. Overall, not a great experience.
“Would stay here again if staying within the city of Cork.”
Our stay at the Maldron was very good. Our room overlooked a Cathedral that was illuminated at night. Beautiful sight to see! The staff were very polite and helpful when asked about sightseeing, transportation and checking the status of the airport during the Icelandic volcano situation.
“extremely close to shops restaurants and bars”
it being my first visit to ireland i thoroughly enjoyed my stay and i would definitely go back there
“Nice hotel for a budget”
I was satisfy with the hotel overall. I was unsatisfied with the parking lot as it was very small and sometimes no spaces available. The hotel seemed old and outdated. I think new carpeting and a coat of paint would make a world of difference. Overall I would stay there again. It was in a good location to downtown Cork.
“Comfortable friendly hotel”
Our room was on the 5th floor excellent views over the city, the room was very comfortable although very warm, air conditioning would have been nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was lovely and warm, but a bit tatty, my only complaint was there was no spinner in the changing room for wet swimwear and the lockers were not secure, also not too keen on wearing a swimming hat. I would recommend this hotel, 10 minutes walk from the town centre, bus station and 20 minutes to the train station
“Maintenance needs attention but overall a nice hotel”
We stayed one night in the Maldron and overall we liked the hotel-great location, with lots of historical charm and friendly, helpful staff. The only complaint was that our toilet seat broke soon after arrival, the bathroom had obvious mildew, and the bench in the sauna had loose panels that needed fixing. We would still recommend the hotel to others and hopefully these things and other maintenance issues will be kept on top of in the future.
