“Corporate Hotel”

We were in Cork on vacation, the hotel was clean and we did not encounter any problems. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. I think that the Lancaster mainly caters to business travellers, and it felt very generic. It was only a 10-15 min walk to downtown for restaurants and shopping so was very convenient for that.

“Lancaster Lodge”

Good central location, good rooms and helpful staff. Brakfast very good. Slight downside for some, no bar or evening meal availability (though plenty of bars and restaurants locally. Free wiFi. I would recommend to others.

“Great central location!”

Loved this location! So close to a fantastic pub named Reardens which I highly recommend especially if there is a live band! Cork was tons of FUN!!!!

Nightlife
Reardens. Great bar on Washington Street. Loads of good looking and friendly people. Great for ages from 21 - 35.

“Noisy on Friday and Saturday night”

If you have river view room, it is noisy at about 3 AM in the morning on Saturday and Sunday as the bars across the street let out. Beds were extremely comfortable. Personnel didn't always know about local highlights. Breakfast was included with our rate and it was better than average.

Area recommendations
Not famiilar with other areas
Dining
Liberty Grill just down the street from hotel is very good. The Cornstore Restaurant near city center is also very good.
Nightlife
An Spailpin Fanac is a homey pub.

“Great hotel for a reasonable price”

Great location in downtown Cork: within easy walking distance to many tourist attractions, restaurants and main shopping areas. Rooms were great for the price. Breakfast was fantastic.

“Pleasantly surprised.”

The Lancaster Lodge was a very comfortable and convenient place to stay in Cork. It is close to City Centre where you have access to the eateries, pubs, shopping, and transit. It is also close to numerous tourist attractions - the Beamish Brewery, Cork Universtiy, and St. Finbarr's Cathedral. The Lancaster offers a wonderful breakfast ...you can enjoy anything from cereal, fruit, muffins to pancakes, and full Irish breakfask. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The downside is there is no meal service for lunch or supper. However, there are various places to eat in the surrounding area. As well, no face cloths provided in the bathroom. Overall a very nice place to stay and good value for your money.

Area recommendations
Cork is a city that you only need to stay a couple of days in. Be sure to visist St. Finbarr's Cathedral - wonderful, Fitzgerald's Park, and enjoy a pint at Cork's oldest Pub - Le Chateau. The surrounding areas offer more things to see and do. Be sure to go to Blarney Castle....grounds are stunning and you have to kiss the Blarney Stone. As well, go to Killarney and do the Ring of Kerry Tour - breath-takingly beautiful.
When to go
April was a great time to go. Not too crowded and the weather was fabulous. As well, the pricing to get there is relatively inexpensive this time of year.
Getting around
You can very easily walk to most places. Otherwise use transit. If you intend to visit outskirt areas, public transit is good...but if you are looking for a leisurely view then a rental may be in order.
What to pack
Be sure to take a jacket that is good in wind and rain. Also ensure you have an umberella.
Dining
Best Irish stew in Cork can be found at Le Chateau - Cork's oldest pub. Clancey's offers a wonderful assortment of food at lunch that is reasonably priced. The Ruen offers some great Thai food and it is open until 11:30 PM.

“Cork”

If you're going to Ireland then do yourselfs a favor and spend an extra day in Cork! It's a great little town and there is alot to see and do. And if you are going to Cork...book at the Lancaster Lodge! Great room for a great price! Only thing I could possible say that we needed there were wash clothes. The hotel doesn't have them and if you are used to using one when you shower you will be out of luck. “Good Comfortable Hotel but BYOB”

Lovely stay, The hotel is very central. The only disappointment was the fact that there was no bar, residence or otherwise.
