“Great stay”
Fab hotel - very clean - lovely staff. I have stayed at 5* hotels all over the world and this is up there with the best of them. Very welcoming staff, personal tour on arrival. If it's good enough for previous guests such as Paul Weller and Billy Conolly, it's good enough for me!
“Loved it!”
One of the nicest hotels we've stayed at. Accomadations beautifully decorated, clean, and comfortable. Staff extremely friendly and willing to meet any request. We needed a US converter and they brought one to our room in a minute. Good location, only about a 10 min. walk to city center or about 7 euro's by taxi. This hotel was just about the best part of our trip to Ireland.
“The best hotel we have ever visited”
Easily the finest hotel that my wife and I have stayed in, and we have stayed in more than a few. Our room was fabulous, especially the deep claw bath and the amazing view of the city from our window. The staff were terrific and very helpful, especially Louis the doorman, who had our trips to Blarney and Cobh planned for our us before breakfast! Truly Exceptional
“Amazing, One of the Very best”
Looking back on several decades of business and leisure travel, the Hayfield stands out as one of the best hotels I have ever had the privilege to visit. The service was impeccible, and the Concierge (a retired teacher) is in a class of his own. Think Irish hospitality, already among the best in the world, and step it up to a new level. I also shy away from hotel restaurants, but we ended up having a lunch and dinner the last evening there. The service was exemplary, while the meal and presentation was creative but not overwrought. I can't wait to return.
“Pampered guest”
This was a wonderful hotel. The staff was very friendly, and helpful. The atmosphere was wonderful too. The room was very nicely furnished, very old world. The room even had a cd player with classical music cd in it. The restaurants had very good food. The bar had friendly knowledgable staff. Every need or desire for your stay was taken care of. All in all it was a great place to stay!
“I would like to call it my local - should I go back, then this is definitely my hotel. I loved it!”
Upon my arrival, on a windswept rainy day, I was delighted to see the wonderful Christmas decorations. The large tree, placed beside the wide staircase, and opposite - a welcoming log fire,it was such a delight to see. Later on, when I went to the drawing room for afternoon tea, there was another Christmas tree, beautifully decorated. In the reading room they had placed another tree and, although there were less decorations - it complimented the room perfectly. My visitors who came to see me throughout my stay - loved the festive grandour of the Manor. Upon my arrival, the receptionist took me up to see the room. It was lovely. My window overlooked the front of the Manor, and at night the city lights looked like fairy-town. Having invited numerous friends for meals, throughout my stay - I dined there at various times throughout the day. We had lunch in Perrots Bistro; very good and attentive service. Late afternoon in the bar, we had delicious soups, light snacks and a large pot of coffee. which warmed us through. One evening - we were a large group, we had a fantastic meal, a truly grand dinner in the Oyster restaurant. Wonderful! Knowing that I needed plenty of fuel for the long journey ahead, I decided to have a full Irish breakfast. Served in the lovely Oyster restaurant, it was very busy, and yet it still felt intimate and relaxed. I checked out, waiting in the cosy chair, beside the warm log fire, for my driver to arrive.
“Very good hotel”
The service in the hotel was excellent. We got a not very nice room in the first night (bed was not confortable) but staff was very happy to move us to another one. Food in the restaurant is very good. Hit the champagne for breakfast.
“A lovely Hotel but probably only 4 and a half star”
Hayfield Manor is a lovely hotel and great for a relaxing stay. The rooms are large and luxurious with huge beds. There are nice areas around the hotel to sit and relax with a book and a drink. The pool area and courtyard garden are great and the staff are courteous, polite and helpful. My only criticism, giving that this is an expensive hotel to stay at, is that it does not quite make five stars in my rating. When you look around there are areas where money was obviously saved; the shower screens in the room look very cheap and did not fit together very well; the ceiling in the pool area looks like it should be in an office; the are fake marble columns that look, well, fake; the garden around the outside of the hotel looks like it was created by somebody who just popped down to their local hardware store to pick up a few plants and pots. But the worst part was the food in the Orchid restaurant which was fine but was not anywhere near the quality you would expect for the price. Hayfield Manor is a great place to stay in Cork and I recommend using their facilities just do not look too closely at some of the decor.
“3.5 to 4 star by Canadian standards”
The hotel has that lovely "old" feel to it and the grounds are also lovely. However, we found it to be a bit "tired". The bathroom had double sinks but no water (hot or cold) came out of the hot water tap in one sink and the shower head was loose and couldn't be moved properly. The room itself was always cleaned very well and the bed sheets were always crisp and clean. There is turn down service every evening around 6:30. It's quite a hike to walk to downtown Cork but if you like walking it's really not so bad. We had rented a car at the airport but didn't use it except for day trips. The on-site restaurant (Orchids) is fairly pricey so we usually walked about and tried out others. We went a couple of times to the River Lee Hotel and ate in the lounge side. Food was good and reasonably priced. Both times we went, their main restaurant was closed. We were fortunate while we were ther in that we only had 2 days of rain out of 10. Would recommend the hotel if you like walking to find off site eateries. We found driving and parking more of a hassle.
“Hayfield Great - but eat elsewhere”
