“Excllent Find”
This place is a bargain and was probably my favorite hotel out of our 2.5 months of traveling Europe. The hotel is perched up on a hill in Cork, overlooking the city. We had a 2nd floor room with a balcony that overlooked the city and it was gorgeous. The room itself was beautifully decorated with all the amenities of a quality hotel. The free internet in the room worked great and there is ample parking out front. It's about a 20 minute walk down the hill into the center of town, but the view is totally worth the extra distance from the town. Room service doesn't charge any extra, so you can have dinner or breakfast in your room for a reasonable price. Great place, great location, great price, wonderful experience. Would make a special trip again to Cork just to stay here.
“Great Staff”
The view from my room was gorgeous. The people working the front desk were very accommodating. One of them actually helped me get my phone back from a taxi cab driver. My stay there was memorable to say the least.
“very good hotel would recommend to all”
staff very helpful ,room clean and restful, food was great and menue varied.also gym ,ammenities great. The hotel is within walking distance from center ,but get a taxi back to hotel or you face steep hill.
“Stylish Hotel”
Lovely atmosphere. Good food. Friendly staff. Bit of a walk to town centre, down, then back up, steep hill.
“Very Impressed”
My sister and I travelled to Cork from Derry to a conference held in the hotel. I drove the 314 miles to get there and back. We had a lovely time at the hotel, making full use of the Hotel's Health & Fitness Suite. Breakfast was very tasty and so was our evening dinner...absoultely delicous in fact. I would recommend this hotel to others and hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
“quiet charm”
clean and quiet hotel in eccentric old victorian Cork- a former home for Protestant incurables- not glitz certainly but fine views and solid comfort
“Charming building”
Apparently the hotel was a hospital a couple hundred years ago which gives the building a lot of personality. The rooms are huge and the ceilings have to be over 15 feet high. It feels like staying in a historical palace. It's a nice experience at a relatively affordable price.
“Would definitely stay again”
Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms were spacious and clean, if slightly old fashioned. The bars and restaurant were lovely, and the breakfast was amazing! Only downside was the MASSIVE hill to walk up to get from the town centre to the hotel.
“Can't wait to go back!”
The Ambassador was one of the 2 nicest places we stayed at (the other being a castle which was MUCH more expensive!). Imagine our surprise when we check in and find that we were upgraded to a better room with a view looking out over the entire city of Cork. We personally liked Cork much more than Dublin and I am sure part of that was because of this hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It is only about a 15 minute walk to downtown (which caters to foot traffic). You do not want to drive in Cork so the free parking at the hotel is really great as well. The room was huge and spotless. That being said---if you do not have a GPS and are planning to drive in Ireland--you are seriously delusional. The streets are not marked like they are in North America and we would never have found it without it. Save yourself the headache and get the maps on your GPS. You'll be glad you did. Stay in Cork at the Ambassador so you can see some of the "real" Ireland.
“Very good hotel on a beautiful building”
The hotel is located on a hill overlooking the city. The building itself is a beauty inside and outside. Each floor is separated from the stairs by a wood and glass divider. The stairs were decorated with big paintings with golden frames. Our room had long windows and from there we had a view of the city. The bathroom was very clean and had beautiful and shiny tiles. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant. The food was good as well as the service. The girl at the from desk was very helpful. The hotel was a little bit difficult to find. We printed Google directions coming from the east and they took as through very narrow streets were we couldn't even read the signs (it was already dark). It was a real nightmare! Fortunately, we also had printed a map of the location. After we found St. Patrick's Quay it was easy to get to the hotel from there.
