“Perfect Hotel with Character in Center of Copenhagen”
First time I stayed here. Very conveniently located to city center and easily reachable by public transport. Nice old style hotel but very well kept
“Underwhelming for 4 stars”
My main criticism of this hotel is the misleading 4 star ranking. They even have 4 stars printed on their brochures. However, this was really a 3 star based on my extensive travels and hotel stays around the world. My room was quite small, not a shock compared to rooms in London I've stayed in. It was a tiny room with a desk by the entrance that I had to side-step to pass. I actually paid for an upgrade so not sure what my original room was like. They called it a queen bed but in the US that is called a twin. The hotel building is supposed to be a couple hundred years old but the room didn't really evoke that. Also in the room itself they only give you a couple of towels, one glass to drink from, and just generally not much else. Someone else noted there is no bell hop which I thought was weird for a "4 star" hotel. On a positive note I would say the people were friendly and helpful, the location is great for sightseeing and very close to the metro which is good for getting to/from the airport and around town. I said I would not recommend it, as a 4 star, but if it was ranked 3 stars then I would say that is fair.
“The Phoenix”
Although the lobby fountain sported a pair of rubber duckies, the original art work dating from the 1800's which was hanging on the walls were absolutely beautiful. The hotel staff were very friendly and all spoke English fluently. The rooms were large for European standards and nicely furnished with old world charm. Remember to bring your own shampoo and conditioner as none was supplied by the hotel. Bikes can be rented through the hotel, although it was a little pricey at $30/day....very popular way to see Copenhagen. The hotel is nicely located and walking distance to the trendy canal street, walking street, the royal palace and much more. Umbrella's were also supplied by the hotel.
“My favoured hotel in Copenhagen”
Helpfull staff, clean room, excellent breakfast, good location. Suits all our accomodation needs when in Copenhagen
“Great location”
We spent two nights at the Phoenix Hotel. The location is simply fantastic - close to the metro, and to the Nyhavn area. The hotel itself was fine. My only complaint (bear in mind: I take reviews by Americans of European hotels where they complain about the room being too small with a grain of salt) was that the room was extremely small. I personally don't need a large space to be comfortable, but I think that replacing the large furniture in the room with smaller furniture would be a great idea, so the space would not seem so cramped as you enter. There should also be a way to hold the baothroom door open if you wish, rather than it banging every time it closes. Otherwise I would recommend this hotel, the staff were kind, courteous and helpful. Like most things in Copenhagen, the accommodation was a little pricey, but I think a way to overcome that is to spend a very short amount of time in the city.
“Good location, somewhat tired hotel”
Stayed here whilst in Copenhagen for a conference. The Phoenix Hotel is well located and close to the Metro for easy travel around Copenhagen. The bistro/bar serves a limited range of good food. The free wifi works and is set up for easy use. The hotel is, however, somewhat dated and tired. My room was large enough with some air conditioning (not vigorous but sufficient for ventilation on a ground floor room in October). The yellowing plastic on the old trouser press, the peelng paint on the bottom of the bathroom door, the worn bedcover (carefully repositioned each day by housekeeping) and dated features were a disappointment as was the large plastic cordoned off area dominating the reception. Whilst the hotel ticks the boxes for a 4 star hotel (truser press etc) the quality of the aging features isn't really made up for by the flat screen TV.
“Faded Glory.”
A great location to walk to most places of interest and the shops. The hotel has seen better days. Being one of Copenhagens older ones the rooms are small with none of todays niceties like tea and coffee makers and ironing facilities. My room had no aircon, my kids had it but it wasn't working. With windows open the rooms were noisy. The bathrooms were antiquated and in very poor condition. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Having a hire car is expensive, made even morev so by a daily parking charge of DKr 225 ( £25). Copenhagen has an on street parking system even the Danes find hard to understand. This costs about £2 an hour. Some hotels offer free parking use them! Copenhagen is expensive especially to eat. With its new found satus as great restaurants the prices have risen. We found very very few places for family eating. Those we did were extremely busy. Booking essential. My conclusion is Copenhagen even with Tivoli isn't a great destination for families.
“Nice hotel at a good price”
The hotel is situated in a very central location in Copenhagen and is within walking distance to most of the attractions. The hotel staff was friendly and extremely responsive to our needs and the hotel rooms were fairly spacious compared to rooms in Europe. Overall a very good experience.
“Perfect place to stay in the heart of Copenhagen”
Got everything you could expect for a 4-star accommodation: Friendly staff, excellent service, elegant interior, clean and quiet place. The location is perfect if you are visiting attractions within the city. City Hall, Kongen Nytorv, National Museum, Tivoli, Rosenborg, Amalienborg, etc. are all within 15-min walking distance. Stayed in a standard single room on the main floor. The only thing I could complain is the size of the room. It's smaller than what I was expecting. Other than that everything is perfect. Highly recommended.
“Value for money. Good location within walking distance of all favourite tourist areas in the CBD”
Clean and convenient location. Rooms small for those used to American and Australian sizes and facilities, but remains value for money in Europe. Located in a street of art and antique shops, currently with roadwork associated with subway construction. But little noticeable street noise. Recommended as close to Nyhavn boats, bars and cafes).
