“Kind, friendly, charming personal service in cosy hotel with pub attached”
Copenhagen is a very expensive city for British visitors so this hotel offers reasonable accommodation at a reasonable price. The rooms are large and comfortable and the wi-fi works throughout. Breakfast is taken in a downstairs bar which bears more than a passing resemblance to an old-fashioned English pub complete with smoke for the rest of the day. The location is slightly out of the centre but there is a metro stop less than five minutes walk away and a wide variety of local shops including a very good fishmonger and smørresbrod shop. The friendly staff go out of their way to be helpful but are very busy when the bar is full.
“The lights were off...”
Cheap and cheerful hotel for a business trip. Service was friendly but the shower room was not as clean as it should have been. The stairs from reception to the rooms was unlit almost resulting in a trip coming down! The rooms did not come close to resembling the photos shown online either
“Good value for Danish prices”
It probably started with the pub. Then the owner bought a floor in the adjacient apartment house to use it as a hotel (year built:1930-1940). Cut a door in the wall between the pub and the house entrance hall. The "reception" is a tiny cubicle somewhere along the way. You can enter through the reception or directly from the street. This being said, the 3 bed room was very clean, quiet, had a very nice park view and was BIG! The location lovely. Toward the residential side but green, airy, with shopping and affordable restaurants nearby. Not downtown but close to the famed spire church. The morning buffet is in the pub (closed to the public during breakfast) with everything a (non-fussy traveller) would need. Coffee -excellent. Given Danish prices it was a good choice for our one night stay.
“Nice 2 day stay”
A friend and I were at the hotel for 2 nights before catching a plane to the USA. The room was quite adequate with plenty of space. Even though my friend speaks Danish, all of the staff we encountered also spoke English and were very helpful. The cafe/bar next to the hotel was a good place to go for a ( smoke ), drink or a sandwich and there are also a wide assortment of cafes, diners, pizza ( Dominos! ) and others eateries within a short walk. The hotel looks very old and fits in perfectly with the rest of the area. If you are looking for posh, this isn't the hotel for you. If you are looking for an affordable place to stay for a few days and appreciate quaint surroundings and old world style, I would recommend it. The bus to the airport stops just across the street. We used a taxi and it was about 150 Danish. If I pass thru the area again, I will definitely stay at Hotel Amager.
“A little gem”
The hotel is small, but very clean, and teh service is friendly. On my second day there there was a problem with the plumbing in my room, but they immediately moved me into a very nice suite without any extra charge. The single rooms are small but very clean, and free from street noise, so I had a good six day stay in Copenhagen. The bed was comfortable. It is also very easy to get into the centre of town, or even to Sweden using the nearby Metro station. Buses are just outside the door.
“Would stay here again!”
We arrived from our cruise ship by 9:30am and were immediately given a room. We were encouraged to enjoy a cup of coffee and something to eat. The Lady on the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful with info about buses etc. The rooms fronting onto the road are a little noisy due to traffic but were fine. They were spacious enough. Bathrooms were fine. About a 20=30 minute walk to the Tivoli and other activities or you can take the local bus which stops just down the street a half block. Local pizza and delicatessans are nearby for less expensive suppers. A very pleasant stay-would definitely stay there again-great value for the money.
“Not good for single traveler”
If you are a couple the hotel is great in room comfort, but if you are a single guest, the room is terrible! So small is the room one can not unpack ones suitcase, and the bed is just a cot.
“Fine”
Convenient and pleasant. Close to Metro line to airport and city. Nice staff. Great bar. Good breakfast. Reasonable value for money in an expensive city.
“Good Value modest Hotel”
I found this hotel to be a nice modestly priced hotel not far, by public transportation, from major attractions in Copenhagen. Bus service to downtown and airport is just accross the street. The Metro subway is only a few blocks away. The rooks, breakfast and service are fine and the staff was friendly, helpful and courteous.
“reasonable price, not many extra's”
The room was big enough for sleeping only, since we spent most of the time out. Lighting was poor, no internet service, the laptop we took couldn't pick up reception. Asked the desk for electrical adapter for U.S. plug and they didn't have one. The breakfast was very good, friendly and helpful staff, great location to metro and airport. Stay here and save $ from those overpriced hotels right in the main area, where all the noise is.You are here to see Copenhagen, not the hotel room.
