“BOOK SHUTTLE TO AIRPORT WHEN YOU BOOK ROOM!!”
This hotel has won awards for being "green"... many innovative energy saving systems are incorporated in its design. The Metro stop is a couple of blocks away so you can access both the airport and the downtown by subway. We did have three major concerns, however. The free shuttle to the airport was totally booked for all morning flights before we even checked in the day before... disappointing, as that was one reason we picked this hotel. Secondly, they only provide coffee first thing in the morning and you have to make it yourself one cup at a time... we saw many people having difficulty with the machine and their coffee was often left unfinished as there was no milk or cream available... the expensive breakfast restaurant was not even open yet when they whisked away the coffee machine, so many people were out-of-luck for a coffee. Finally, the windows in the rooms are sealed (an energy thing I'm guessing), so can not be opened... my wife is a fresh-air lover and we were fortunate that the seal on our window was broken... our friend had no such luck in her room and she found it very stuffy. Cab fare to the airport was expensive... we'd wished we had stayed closer the night before our flight. Of course, everyone has different opinions about what they expect in a modern hotel, so your experience may well be a more positive one.
“A very fine hotel”
We stayed 3 nights in this hotel and thought that it was great. The hotel is famous for being "green" and the rooms are very clean, spacious and well-appointed. It's practically right across the street from a metro/train station, so it couldn't be easier to get into the city from this location. It's also just down the street from Scandinavia's biggest mall, "Fields" which is a great place to get pastries, meals or etc. The staff also really seems to take pains to be as helpful and friendly and professional as possible. Another convenience they offer is a shuttle van that runs from Copenhagen airport to the hotel and back (although it's not 24 hours a day-check with the hotel to confirm times and availability). The only downside I can say about this hotel is the shower. Coming from the US, I found the hot and cold water controls to be confusing. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't seem to get a steady stream of warm water- the water seemed to alternate between being too hold and then being a bit too cool (though not cold). Maybe it was the fixtures, maybe it was the hotel's hot water heater-I don't know, but it was kind of frustrating. Also, instead of having a shower curtain, the tub had a glass shield that only went about 1/3 of the way across the length of the tub. As a result, water from tyhe shower easily sprinkled onto the bathroom floor. Neither of these factors was a really big deal to me, but it is something the hotel might consider changing.
“Very nice hotel”
Hotel is very nice with typical scandanavian decor and the staff is excellent. The location is not that great. It is located very near to a shopping mall and a train station. It will cost about $10 one-way to get to the center of town where all the sightseeing activities are but Copenhagen is so expensive that you kind of have to expect that. Other than the shopping mall, there is nothing around so you are stuck with either eating at the expensive hotel restaurant or the mall - or just stay downtown. With all that said, I liked the hotel and would definitely recommend it if you want to be close to the airport (free shuttle is available) or you don't mind the train travel.
“Superb hotel - cannot fault it!”
All the 'Excellent' ratings I saw before going were totally correct! A brilliant stay, courteous and helpful staff everywhere. A comfy bar (Still) with good food, a pleasant restaurant (Storm) for breakfast and dinner. Shuttle service to and from airport well worth spending extra for. I think we were unusual in that it is obviously a business hotel but we were there for 8 nights so we saw a lot of different groups of business people but this did not interrupt our stay at all. Our room on 24th floor meant a panoramic view of the southern suburbs of Copenhagen. The only down side? You are on the edge of Copenhagen so don't come here for immediate access to the centre - however, Orestad Metro and station are 5 minutes walk away (rail is one stop to Central station, 10 minutes) and E20 motorway runs next to hotel (soundproofing on 24th floor meant no noise!). You do also have Fields Shopping Centre across the bridge over E20/rail to shop at. The only other picky point? The free wi-fi drops out a bit on floor 24! Suspect that the paid service might be better but this is a minor point! It is excellent in the bar and restaurant however! I would definitely return - the only proviso is that it looks as though more buildings may be around the hotel over the next year or so, I would check with Google Earth (or similar) to see what the surroundings looked like before booking next time.
“Clean, Quiet, and Reasonable”
My wife and I stayed at the Crown Plaza before and after a Princess Cruise that left from Copenhagen. While we love to stay in old hotels I' m a light sleeper and constant noise from toilets flushing and doors closing has sent me looking for newer hotels. The Crown Plaza was perfect. It is new and in excellent condition. Our room was spotless. The bed and linens were marvelous. It was very quiet. The staff spoke perfect English. They were very helpful in navigating around the city. The train and Metro were about 2 city blocks away and very easy to use. The hotel sells tickets at a reduced rate. It is a short ride into Copenhagen. It was easy to get within walking distance of our ship. We had no trouble getting the hotel's shuttle to and from the airport. We heard horror stories from fellow passengers, on the ship, about staying in older hotels in town. I would not hesitate recommending this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Copenhagen. It is a beautiful city with much to see and do.
“Great convient location”
Airport shuttle to a modern beautiful highrise hotel. Two blocks from the metro and trains into the city and a shopping mall. Comp. High speed Wifi access. Would return in a minute.
“Away from City Centre but Convenient for Sight Seeing”
We stayed here for 2 nts after a Princess cruise in the Baltics towards the end of Aug. and were a bit apprehensive at first after reading some reviews that it was away from city centre. However, we found it conveniently located on the metro as well as train line (Orestad station) in a very quiet area (10 - 15 mns south of city centre). It was only one train stop away from Kastrup airport (we used the complimentary shuttle to the airport which was only around 10 mns drive) and is not far from Malmo, Sweden, on the same train line as well. There is a Field's shopping centre, a short walk away, across from Orestad station, and with an excellent bakery where we got sandwiches and pastry. It also has a supermarket. We would definitely recommend this hotel to those looking for a decent and quiet hotel and don't need to be in the centre of the action! Our room was clean, spacious, very bright, simple but tastefully decorated, and it is a very green hotel. The only drawback is the shower/tub with the narrow glass partition and hence water tends to splash everywhere (European hotels don't seem to like shower curtains!!). We were also lucky to be able to check in earlier while other guests had to wait till later!!
“Danish Modern (but not that practical)”
The hotel is rather new with a Danish modern design but whereas such design normally implies practicality, the hotel rooms are not that practical. Very flat closets with limited capacity. Hardly any drawers. Inconvenient shower. The hotel is located away from the center but with good access via metro, train or bus, and provides a shuttle service to the airport.
“If you like Danish Modern...”
The staff at the Crowne Plaza Copenhagen could not have been more wonderful. However, the architecture of the hotel was very modern and contemporary which is not something I am comfortable with. Therefore I found the accommodations fairly depressing. It's all about personal taste though. So if you are fine with contemporary decor this place would be great for your stay. Their food service, both the bar lunch and room service, were exceptional.
“We loved it!”
My husband and I had chosen this hotel based on reviews that we had read. on the Trip Advisor I am happy to report that we made the right choice. The location was ideal. Across the street from the "metro and train" station which was very new for us), the "Fields" shopping center across the street with lots to offer, and the room was very clean and very comfortable with a big and modern bathroom.
