“Perfectly decent place”
I have stayed here several times. It is convenient to where I have to go, but it is not well located for the centre of town or any of the tourist areas, or indeed metro or above ground rail. It is basic but comfortable, small rooms, decent restaurant, adequate business centre and exercise room, and generally efficient and well run (their bikes are an exception, they are a little tired). And usually economical, because it seems to have a lot of deals. I like it, but the main issue for sightseeing is that it is definitely off the beaten track and you have to be prepared for a lot of walking or cabbing to get around (or you can hire their bikes).
“Excellent hotel near everything”
I received a recommendation for this hotel from a dannish student and it was lovely. You experiment the Dannish Design style in your room. Comfort, cleanliness and style.
“85”
Very good. I would come back.
“Not good enough”
The Island is a new hotel next to a shopping arcade in Copenhagen's equivalent of Wapping. It is a long walk or a busy or subway ride into the city. The rooms are OK. The restaurant is very poorly run. Buffet breakfast is almost £20 and there's nowhere else within walking distance to find breakfast. The staff were uniformly unhelpful - they won't for example order you a taxi for a specific time. You have to come down to reception and ask them to order you one. Not great if there's a long queue for checkout at 7.45 am and only one person behind the counter. A disappointment mostly though the water bus that goes nearby into the city is nice. I am booked to return here with colleagues in August and it's too late to change the booking. I hope it's improve by then.
“decent hotel”
the hotel was a nice new building.the rooms were very clean and so was the hotel.but the rooms were very small and we had a superior.the air conditioning was effective.breakfast was good.the hotel was 20 min walk to the city centre,we also had the option of taking a boat to the centre which we did do on the way back when we were too tired.the hotel is in a nice area right next to a mall, where there are plenty of food options.there was no one to help with the luggage.yes it was expensive but so was rest of scandanavia.
“Affordable Comfort”
Having stayed in Copenhagen many times, it was a very pleasant surprise to actually find a quality central hotel at a sensible price. Overall, the hotel ticked all the boxes. The design and layout of the hotel are very modern Scandinavian. For those brave enough there is an outdoor pool (a pontoon in the waterway around the hotel). Walking to the centre of the city although not out of the question, you would need a good pair of walking shoes. The Tivoli Gardens can easily be seen form the hotel but would take 15 minutes plus of brisk walking and a furhter 10 minutes to the main shopping area.
“A little out of the way, overpriced, but real nice”
The Copenhagen Island Hotel is about a mile from the beginning of all the action in downtown. It's an ok walk, but I wouldn't want to do it at night. I was there on a Saturday and the area is surrounded by closed office buildings. It is about a long block from the Tivoli Hotel, and bus stop. Take the 11A circulator. The price of the hotel was way over budget, but the room was exceptional. I opted for a double, with harbor view. Very Danish design, functional, yet simple. Sufficient closet space. No dressor. Desk with chair. Small flat screen TV. Bathroom was spacious with tub/shower combo. Considering the price, I had expected better toiletries (only shampoo, bar soap, and body lotion) and towels. It is Copenhagen and everything is very expensive. I should have gotten the Copenhagen Card, which in the would have paid for itself with the buses and canal cruise.
“recommeded”
next to shopping center, easy to find food. close to metro, just 1 stop from central station
“High Standard, Great Value hotel in Copenhagen”
The Copenhagen Island, is a wonderful hotel, with reasonable prices, even considering the exceptional level of service and comfort. Located within walking distance of the Tivoli Conference Center, even an adventure into the city center only requires a 15-20 minutes by foot.
“Excellent Copenhagen hotel!”
Very nice, new, modern hotel. Some of the staff may over promise and under deliver in terms of when they will do what they said that they will do, but otherwise, service was great. Very close to a shopping mall for cheap food. I was there on business, and the hotel was excellent!
