“Fantastic location with great breakfast & free buffet”

This hotel seems to have been given a hard time in some reviews and so I wasn't sure what to expect, but we were really pleasantly surprised. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and had clearly undergone some recent cosmetic updates which looked good. We thororughly enjoyed breakfast and made the most of the free evening buffet which included a hot meal and really saved some kroner when it comes to eating out in Denmark. Some may say the hotel was expensive but to be honest you're going to find this wherever you go in Copenhagen. I've stayed in a few hotels in Copenhagen now and this one I felt was really value for money. The location too was brilliant, within walking distance to all the sights and particularly close to the palace. A great long weekend and a hotel I would definitely come back to.

“Poor front desk service”

Front desk clerks were "borderline rude." Location was great, many restaurants in area and walking distance to local attractions. Rooms were very dark however and toilet and shower drains stink.

“Bed Bugs”

About 70 bites and an extra 100 pounds (Rentokil etc.) later - this hotel was far from 'value for money'!! On the plus side: great location (right next to Nyhavn), friendly staff and a stylish atrium bar/breakfast room arrangement.

“Construction Site”

The Hotel Neptune is very well located -- just 2 minutes from Amalienborg palaces in one direction and Nyhavn restaurants in the other direction and in a nice neighbourhood . There is the added convenience of an open buffet for breakfast and dinner as well as tea time which can be included in the price of the room. On the other side of the story, through the years, I've had some very poor experiences in terms of rooms -- poor air circulation creates discomfort in both summer and winter (no A/C), there is a central atrium that many of the rooms face for their only window, the maintenance is very poor, and I've experienced some major construction disruptions during several visits. Overall, this hotel is not 4-Star quality -- it offers a long list of amenities and the location is super, but that doesn't make up for the generally run down look and feel to the place (and it was looking that way 20 years ago when I first visited it on a business trip that was booked for me). Ralistically, in comparison with other modern, European hotels this is no more than a 3-star or less category hotel in terms of comfort and surroundings.

“Great value for money”

We enjoyed staying in the hotel which is very central, the buffet for the dinner was a bit limited though and the staff was occupied with their own dinner upon arrival - and needed to be told to top up food, restaurant slightly messy with dirty plates and glasses. Was very surprised with the quality of the red wine which was excellent. Breakfast - great variety. room was beautiful and very clean but, when the the people upstairs walked around, it made the chandelier in our room make a clinging noise which was annoying as i couldnt sleep. Great value and easy to check in and out.

“Good location”

The hotel is located in an area close to the water and also close to many restaurants. The service was decent, but make sure breakfast is included when you book your reservation- certain rooms have to pay extra for breakfast.

“so-so room and breakfast very expensive”

Overall the hotel was not bad but my room only had windows facing an enclosed courtyard. If people were sitting there and smoking or talking loud I had to close my window. There was no possibility for fresh air. The room became quite warm easily so I alternated turning on the AC (in October). One particular disappointment was that I mistakenly thought that breakfast was included with the stay but found out only upon checkout that it was not and it was very expensive (over $60 for 3 breakfasts!). The floor to the room felt like it had a hole under the carpet in one spot and the bathroom smelled funny, although looked clean. If you are a light sleeper this might not be for you, as the floors are quite thin. On my first night it sounded like a herd of elephants above me as I was trying to get to sleep. To be fair, the hotel has free internet on a computer in the lobby and international newspapers available to read. On my next stay to Copenhagen I will try a different hotel to see if I have better luck.

“Neptun plums the depths”

The "moderate" single was in fact a room in the attic with significant in-lies reducing the feeling of space even more. There was a large step up to the bathroom where the shower was only shielded from the toilet by a partial shower curtain. The bed was small with 2 of the most ridiculous sized pillows I have ever seen - one for a giant and the other designed for a dwarf with nothing in between for the panto's hero. The hotel decor was tired with the metal windows definitely in need of a good coat of paint. In the dining / breakfast room the tables were dark and uninviting. The free dinner is actually a cold buffet with soup, where none of the food is labelled to help identify what it is (e.g. sweet or savoury or what - believe me, it wasn't always obvious). It is to be avoided. There are plenty of good restaurants in the area - head for one of them instead. Thankfully we were only staying one night - but we've crossed it off our list for future business trips.
