“One of the better hotels in Copenhagen”
I stay in Copenhagen Hotels 1-2 a month and have tried >10. I can say that this hotel has a good feel to it; the staff are friendly and polite (definately not a given in Copenhagen - just try the Kong Arthur to experience rudeness!) and the quality of the breakfast was excellent. The room was also excellent and it had access to several english speaking tv channels and free wifi.
“Great hotel!”
Stayed in the family room in the Avenue Hotel. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The children slept on the sofa bed (queen size) and they also said it was very comfortable. One of my kids is a teenager - who requires a lot more sleep, so we were able to take our other child down in the lobby and he played with toys provided by the hotel. Lobby had comfortable couches, blankets, - felt a little like home. Location - Few blocks from the metro - easy walking distance - even with kids & suitcases. Front reception was great at giving advise on how and which buses/metro to use. One bus ride from Tivoli Gardens - we walked and it took about 15 minutes, two metro stops from the walking/shopping street down town, also walked and it took about 20 minutes. I think - not sure exactly - but about 8 stops from the airport. Breakfast - was included - small breakfast but really good quality of food. Wish I could remember the name of the waitress - really sweet girl that brought me my decaf coffee every morning. I would definitely stay here again!
“Decent hotel, but noisy”
The room was comfortable, but there was a lot of traffic noise from the busy road outside (although I was on the first floor). One evening there was also loud music from the ground floor bar. Breakfast was a standard Scandinavian affair of cheese, meats, bread and cereals. The hotel is located about 5 minutes from the excellent Copenhagen Metro (nearest station is "Forum").
“Ok but room facilities lacking”
Just ok bathroom and other room facilities were poor.
“Very Poor hotel and not a 3 star standard at all”
I arrived to the hotel expecting that the hotel would be a 3 star hotel. First impression, you enter the hotel, there is a very bad smell. I thought that the smell was going to be for few hours but it seems that it is the smell of the hotel. Then, we had to wait till 3pm to check in when it is usually at 12pm. so we has to go fior few hours, knowing that we took a very early flight. Second, we arrived in the evening to the room, the room was quite dirty, the carpet was dirty, one of the towels has some funny things on it and the pillow was dirty. i dont think this is a standard of even a 3 star hotel. Another thing that was quite shocking is the size of the toilet, they were tiny more like a 2 star hotel. I wouldnt recommend at all this hotel for not even one night.
“Good Choice”
We had a very nice stay at this hotel. The room was spacious and very clean. Excellent breakfast. Staff very helpful. Our room faced the back patio, so we didn't have problems with traffic noise, even with the windows opened. It's half block from a bus stop and 3 blocks from a metro station (Forum). Parking in the back patio costs 95 DKK per 24 hrs.
“Very good hotel -- especially the price”
It is a nice hotel. The best thing is that the drinks in the refrigerator is free. A 500ml water bottle like Ozaka costs about 25cents in the States. Here it is $1.78. So that you have so much free drinks is really nice. The surrounding area is clean and quiet. It's 5 min talk to the Forum metro station. Actually our family just walked to the city center in 15 minutes with two children. The breadkfast buffet is great. Well the room is small. We also went to Norway and Sweden. Every room here is small.
“Comfortable and friendly hotel on outskirts of Copenhagen”
Having chosen this hotel based upon other reviews on expedia, we found that it was largely as described. The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly, making sure that we had everything we needed. As other reviews say, it's crucial that you request a room at the back of the hotel, as the main road outside (Aboulevard) is very busy. The breakfast buffet included was very high quality and had a great choice of food available for all tastes. With regards to the location of the hotel itself, be prepared for a good walk into the city centre. As a guide, it took us 15 minutes to get to the square on which the city hall is situated. However, as we expected to be doing a lot of walking around Copenhagen anyway, this was not too much of an issue. If you have children though, this may be something to consider. The nearest metro station (Forum) is about 5 minutes away, so that is an option if you prefer. All in all, we would definitely recommend this hotel to our fellow expedia travellers.
“" handy base for copenhagen "”
the avenue hotel was a very nice place to stay for a short break in copenhagen ,the reception staff were very helpful and always greeted us with a smile and chat . the room was very nice and clean ,the fridge in the room was very handy ,if you want bottled water buy it from the netto supermarket after the bridge on the right hand side . my only critisism of the room was that it was very hot at night and could have done with air conditioning the breakfast buffet was quite nice plenty to eat fresh bread, juice, boiled eggs, cereal, cheese, cold meats, yoghurt ,and fruit overall the hotel was very nice place to stay it would have been better if the hotel did evening meals, there was a chinese restaraunt close by which was good value for money ,the rest of the time we ate in the town centre
“Good value for the price”
The hotel is located in an old building which used to be an appratment building. Comfortable and clean rooms, perfect beds! large window, lots of lite. Cozy courtyard with comfortable furniture and candles, nice launge with a bar and a fireplace. Breakfasts are wonderful, fresh, plantyful and different every morning. Because we had a little fridge in our room , we went shopping just twoblocks form the hotel, in a supermarket, and had our evening tea in the room. the hotel would provide hot water at your request. Very welcoming and plesant place off center, but within 10-15 walking minutes to the main attractions. If lazy to walk, get a 7-day pass for zones 1 and 2, and you can catch a ride to the historic center by bus or metro. Everyone is helpful when you ask for info. The hotel doesn't have meals in the evening, but snacks. however, there are lots of tasty and affordable places to eat: one block away there is a chinese buffet at a reasonable price, and also a suchi place, a greek place, an italian restorant. Having free wireless internet connaction in the room was also very comfortable. there are many different little broshures downstares with even some discuntes for the tickets. Overall, perfect for the price, in a quiet neighborhood, clean and comfortable.
