“Large suites, good price, service far from perfect”

This was an overall good experience, and the price was excellent. Clean, very large suites, good neighborhood, nice lobby and restaurant, helpful reception. Room service was not very professional, and is not recommended. I used them five times for breakfast and dinner, and there was almost always something wrong: a wrong order, something forgotten, a beer bottle not opened, silverware missing. One day, they forgot to do the room, and I called at noon, 6pm and 6.30 pm until another person came. She was very nice and did it rapidly, but this was a hassle.

“Internet and parking not free”

The rooms are enormous. It was seriously the size of a small apartment. Large living room, desk, sink, microwave, refrigerator, very comfortable bed with down comforter. Great views. Really nice little bar. But the down sides mean I would not stay there again: There was no bell man to help with bags. This was a big deal since the parking is in a garage next door, and there is no valet either. So you have to lug your bags quite a ways to get to your room. The front desk staff were rude and unhelpful. The wait staff and bar staff were great though. A door knob came off in my hand when I tried to open the door to the garage. The thing that I hated most was the hefty daily price for parking and wifi which added considerably to the price.

“Great hotel suite,”

Food was good in restaurant. Room was great! Room can be noisy if close to elevator or loud people above you. No exhaust fan to drown out food.

“Great Location in Downtown Columbus”

Stayed for a weekend for a wedding. Pleased with room and location of hotel. Would stay again.

“Go again”

Absolutely excellent for the price. Staff warm, friendly and helpful, especially food and beverage manager. Located downtown but well placed for a number of attractions and a short distance away from others (walking distance). Was there to visit family so may well return and would have no hesitation in booking Doubletree again.

Area recommendations

Arena/Short North district for dining, drinking etc. German village for a cultural experience. Everywhere for 20's/30's architecture-scratch beneath the surface.

Getting around

Lots of places within easy walking distance (although US citizens don't seem to have legs!) Do give the Segway tour a go. It gives a nice overview of city and is a fun experience. Lots of great dining.

Must see

Must see wonderful deco period architecture- Ohio statehouse, Ohio supreme court, Ohio theater (where you can see an old movie for $4!); German village, Short North district, Laveque Tower (can't miss it) Amish people (out north of Columbus), Hicking Hills (South of Columbus. Area of outstanding beauty with lots of fun activities available)

“Best for business”

Great staff and very helpful. didn't care for the jackhammers pounding away, but such is progress and repair. Great facility and cannot say enough about the helpful staff. Only negative is that the restaurant could use some more staff. Breakfast order delivery was too slow.

German village, Short North and Arena distirct for food and pleanty of it.
