“Nice place and location, just weathered”

Nice location near Devine Street Shops, close to Five Points and University of South Carolina, nice decor, quaint but just a little weathered. More like a bed and breakfast but in a small hotel setting.

“wedding guest stay”

I like staying at the Whitney because of it's location & comfort. Our room needed work: scuffed walls & other marks that needed paint. However, we will stay there again. It's location, kitchens, limo service & comfort ensure it.

“So many extras”

Although the Whitney is not a spanking new facility, it was clean and had much charm and character. It boasts suites, rather than rooms, with a full kitchen and laundry. We stayed at Christmas to visit my son and even though they were working on a holiday, the staff could not have been kinder or friendlier. Add a breakfast buffet to the package and we know that the Whitney is where we will stay when visiting Columbia again.

“Apartment amenities for hotel room price.”

Great 2 bedroom/2 bathroom suite set up. Good location - right on Devine St. and all the little boutique shops; only 5 minutes from downtown Columbia. Neighborhood is good for taking walks or runs. Good breakfast, friendly wait staff and also cleaning staff. It's the perfect set-up when my husband, my mother, and I travel together. The living room, dining and kitchen arrangement are really like an apartment. It's very comfortable and great to come back to the suite for some down time and not feel as if you're in a hotel room. We've stayed at the Whitney before, and we're definitely going back. You can't beat the price; competitive room rates with other local hotels, but you're getting much more than just a room.

Area recommendations

If you like to go out, the hotel is not far from the Five Points area of Columbia. There are good restaurants and bars. The same goes for the Vista area of Columbia - restaurants catering to all tastes in food choices. The boutiques right across the street from the hotel are fun to explore, and there are a few restaurants right there, too.
