“"Not Clean"”
I will stay at Hamption Inn in the future, even if more expensive. It's worth more to have a clean, nicely decorated room that you can move around and park without a fee.
“Perfect for USC visits”
Great location for anyone visiting the USC campus. Afforbabale and great rooms.
“Best location for touring the USC campus”
We found the hotel to be in an ideal location for visiting the USC campus. The hotel staff was very accomodating with directions and recommendations as well as offers for shuttle service.
“Nice room and lobby, service could be better”
We had called and asked about early check in and were told that it was not possible, our room would be ready at the normal check in time, at 4. It wasn't. We waited 20 minutes and finally got a nice but only moderately clean room. With check in as late as 4, I would expect that the room would be ready - and clean. Overall service was a bit erratic, at breakfast and check out as well.
“good location.... fine hotel...service, soso......”
this is basically a courtyard as you would expect it pretty much anywhere in the us. it's a little bit more expensive though - guess the location. the rooms are perfectly fine and the hotel is well functioning - as you would expect. the only disappointment was at the front desk: when checking in and when i asked questions about restaurants nearby, the front desk lady (don't know name; african american, around 40-50) was not extremely helpful and seemed to have a bit of an attitude. don't get me wrong she was not unfriendly or hostile but after having traveled the south for more than one week and having been extremely pleased by all the wonderful people we met there (also in many other hotels), i had the impression that she was doing the mere minimum - that was the only time that we ever had this experience on that trip. that and the relatively high price (for a courtyard) tells me that they get a lot of visitors, no matter what. a little bit like new york city.....where i'm from.... oh yes, and if you happen to be there and are looking for a great dinner place: it's california dreaming.....a chain but with very good food and in a great and historic building...
“I will definitely stay there again if I'm in Columbia, SC”
This was a great place to stay. I was attending a conference at the university and I forgot to print out copies of my paper. I printed it in the business center and the staff made copies for me. That was a huge help! The hotel was very nice. Comfy beds, clean room. It was a nice walking distance from restaurants, coffee and bars to grab a drink. The free shuttle service back to the airport was really helpful. The driver was such a nice person. We had a great chat on the drive. The whole staff was great.
“Will Not Return”
After the check in experience, when we arrived in our room, the shower walls had dried hair stuck on the wall. They were not clean correctly. The condenza where the television was one had a thick layer of dust on it and this dust continued to be on the entire visit. Even though we paid through Expedia, the hotel charged us again for our stay and it was subtracted from our acct. Had to continue calling the hotel to get situation straighten out, in which it should not have happened anyway. I would not stay at this hotel again in addition to any of its chains.
“Great Place to Stay near USC”
I always like Courtyard by Marriott - it's a reliable chain, the beds are always so comfortable - and this one did not disappoint. The hotel is very near the USC campus. Columbia is not a great city, but there are some things worth visiting. The Vista neighborhood, which this hotel is near, has a lot of good restaurants and a bustling night life.
“Perfect business class hotel!”
The Courtyard Marriott in Columbia is first rate as a business class hotel; everyhing you need and nothing you don't. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and kinder. Thanks for a great stay!
“Most cramped parking EVER!!”
The location was great. The room was fine (though the check in person asked if I wanted a "room with a view" or a "quiet room" and I picked quiet room..she gave me a room on the 4th floor with a view of the enormous air conditioning units which were constantly making noise! Anyway...the thing that REALLY sent me over the edge was the breakfast. I noticed that it wasn't included in the price of the room, but decided to give it a try anyway. It was a $9.95 "breakfast buffet". The food was EXACTLY like the food that I have eaten for free at every other hotel I've ever been to. You had to make your own waffles, the biscuits were cold & hard, the eggs, oh my god I don't think I've ever had anything that gross in my life, the bacon was cold and limp. My daughter and I ended up eating cold cereal and our meal cost $20!!! The next day we went to Bojangles and got a yummy breakfast for less than $5!
