Great location, very close to the colloseum. Fresh pastries and coffee for breakfast. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Room always cleaned and well maintained. Quiet small but better than expected for the price in the location

"Hotel Ivanhoe in January 2015"
stayed here for 4 nights in January 2015. Location of hotel is very good; 10 minute walk from Termini train station and 10 minute walk to the Colosseum. Situated on a nice little street with lots of cafes and restaurants close by. Cavour Metro stop also at the end of the street. Rooms are small but I think that's quite common in Rome. Anyway didn't spend much tme in the hotel. Nice continental breakfast of breads, croissants, cereal, hams, cheeses, juices, coffees and muffins. You can also get some eggs if you want them. Staff are very friendly! Reception, dining and cleaning always had a smile and nice welcome. Always very helpful. Mt advice for visitors to Rome: 1) Don't hire a car, bicycle or scooter in this city, they drive like lunatics! 2) Don't be too offended by the lack of manners from people; I think it's just how they are. 3) Rome is best seen either by foot or on a bus tour. All the major sights can be reached by foot, but if you don't fancy that then get a metro pass (6 euro for one day pass). for good food close to the hotel go to Trattoria Pizzeria "Il Tettarello, it's just behind the hotel up the steps. Top class food and service. Also Sciu㈠Sciuã is excellent.

"Fantastically placed for the sights"
Hotel was clean. Staff were nice and helpful. 10mins walk (if that) from the Termini station, Coloseum and wedding cake. Lots of restaurants nearby Breakfast was great. Not your usual cheese and ham slices... There were cereals, scrambled eggs, bacon and even cakes!

"Perfectly good hotel."
i had a pleasant stay at casa Santa Sofia. The hotel is very... Spartan in appearance, but everything is very clean and efficient. The breakfast was perfectly good and the staff professional. Only big complaint is the wifi isn't very good.

"Excellent location!"
First of all, the hotel staff were lovely! They were always willing to help me out and give me suggestions on how to reach places the easiest way. The location of the hotel is very convenient, it's within walking distance from the Colosseum, Forum, Piazza Venezia, and Roma Termini, the main train station. There are two metro stations nearby, and lots of restaurants around the area. I am a female, solo traveler, and always felt safe in the area. The room was simple but very clean and comfortable. You get free breakfast, and their coffee is amazing! I will definitely return to Hotel Tirreno next year.

Sweet Home Colosseum

Via Angelo Poliziano, 61, Rome - Map

"Very close to Colosseum"
Very clean place and a good location. When we arrived the room was not set up with the requested twin beds and the lady that was there to greet us said there was nothing that could be done about it and we would have to wait until tomorrow. We asked for the bedding and would change it ourselves but again told to wait. Breakfast was limited. After breakfast no one on site. Would have been nice to have access to a phone and a list of numbers such as taxi. We had to go to the hotel next door to have a cab called and they got very upset with us. Saying that they were always getting B&B guests asking for luggage storage, to use the bathroom and call cabs. We did not realize that there would be no one one site. It took 2 days to get an answer from the owners about leaving our luggage for a couple of hours after checkout. They were very agreeable but it would have been nice to get an answer sooner. The girl that served breakfast was very pleasant but spoke no English and we could not ask her.

    Pocket Guide: Rome Colosseum Hotels

The heart of Ancient Rome, all roads led to the Forum. Visitors flock here to walk the streets where Julius Caesar once trod when this was the centre of commercial, political and judicial life. Nearby, the Colosseum, described by Lord Byron as 'the gladiators' bloody circus', is the world's most famous amphitheatre and the most impressive of all Rome's buildings and ruins.
