“great location”

the maritim is in a great location within cologne, on the bank of the river. staff great, good facilities including pool and very clean. The decor is a good 10 years behind some 'trendy' hotels but if you can live with that...... stay there! you can even take your dog.London

“Well worth it”

A well thought out hotel. Near to the olde town andto the shops and a stone throw from the Rhine. The breakfast is an extra 17 euros but there is everything you could possibly want from bubbly to shushi to british breakfast. All presented buffet style. The room was confortable but you could only have air conditioning, and not fresh air, as the room overlooked the very large and impressive glazed central forum of the hotel. I would recommend this hotel - it has 4 star standard, efficient, friendly and attentive staff.

“Good business hotel”

Attended a conference here - food very good. Location great. All enclosed courtyard and rooms on the inside were noisy, but OK. I did not like the fact you had to always use a lift (and wait) with a roomcard - stairs would have been a healthier option! Courteous and pleasant service.

“Nice, But a bit Off the Top of its Game”

The hotel is a bit like a city: there are at least 20 shops on the ground level, from newsstands to fancy restaurants, and the entire first floor is a domed over town square, where one can sit and have a nice coffee any time of day. The location is OPTIMAL: right across from the Rhine, and a short walk to the best places in Cologne, including the Cathedral. The hotel itself was probably a stunner when it was built, I'm guessing 20-30 years ago. But the decor is stuck in gilded 80s cliches. I attended a conference there, and the meeting rooms are crying out for an update. The conference food was also pretty bad, but I don't think that's the fault of the hotel; breakfast in their restaurant was quite good. The prices are, for Europe, quite reasonable. There is a lack of wireless access in the rooms so, if you have a computer, be sure it can accept an old-fashioned ethernet connection. The staff speaks excellent English, by the way, and were all HIGHLY professional, well-dressed and courteous.

“I'm sorry breakfast is not included in your rate”

Generally good value for money, however internet was chargeable, lifts are slow and illogical in the way they operate and the shower in over the bath and lack of a shower cubicle suggest this hotel is older than it appears to be. At breakfast there is a very crude attempt to corale you like sheep towards the "gatekeeper" who allows access to the breakfast buffet, he needed to apologise for the fact that when he checked our room number that it did not include breakfast, it would have been sufficient to ask if he could charge the room without making us feel like third class citizens who apparently could not afford a room rate with breakfast. The only complaint about breakfast ; who eats pancakes that are cold and filled with yoghurt?,

“Maritim Cologne is OK”

Nice lobby, English was limited to check in jargon, no concierge but bellman had a good restaurant suggestion. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable except for the pillow--the pillow set a new standard for thin! The location was excellent for restaurants and bars. I'd stay here again.

“Not impressed”

The main problem I had was the room: I asked for a non-smoking room and they gave me a room where the smell of the smoke was very strong. Very disappointing.
