“very good hotel”

Two improvements they could make: 1. Put a coffe/tea making facility in the room. 2. Ensure that when they know there are more than 2 guests in the room tha the towels, glasses etc are there for them, and they do not have to be asked. The third bed was delivered an hour after we checked in, and we had to ask for extra towels etc. ( This is a common fault with most hotels)

“Perfect location”

This is a well-above-average hotel, perfectly located for travelers arriving and departing by train and planning to walk to the cathedral and museums. 'The staff was more than accomodating to this traveler who got confused about my itinerary, thought we were staying another night, and did not actually check out til late afternoon -- no charge! Furthermore they made long distrance calls on our behalf (charged) and found us lodging at our next destination. Yes the regular breakfast is a ridiculous price for non-business account travelers; but they will serve a beverage and croissant for a reduced price. I advise NOT buying the city transit pass, as we did. It is simply not needed for transportation but does provide discounts to the museums. We didn't do the calculation but the savings, we estimate, are not much. The museums are wonderful as, of course, is the Cathedral.

“The Business”

The Lindner Hotel Dom Residence is just 5 minutes walk from the Station and Cathedral, with the bars and restaurants of the old town within a 10 minute walk. The hotel is modern with pool, sauna, gym etc and includes WiFi. The staff are friendly and the rooms are spacious with large double beds. There is a good bar and restaurant with some seating outside in a shared courtyard. Everything is spotless. The prices are competitive for the area. The location is in a quiet area of the city. We would certainly stay here again when in Cologne.

“Outstanding service, good location, food and amenities!”

We are experienced travelers. We like our hotels to be clean and to provide good service, but we are realistic in our demands. This trip was important to us since we were traveling with our oldest granddaughters, ages 12 and 9, and were looking for good value but also family friendly accomodations. We were not disappointed! From the beginning of the trip -- the hotel responded promptly by email that they were providing us adjoining rooms -- to check out with the nice surprise of a bill slightly less than we anticipated -- the hotel was terrific. The buffet breakfast was excellent. The grandchildren were able to chow down on familiar food (eggs, cereal, juice, hot chocolate, etc) which made searching for a lunch venue unecessary. Breakfast, as mentioned in other reviews, was pricey -- but there was no charge for the 9 year old and we were given a "2 for 1" coupon that reduced the bill quite a bit. After a day of walking and cold, the heated swimming pool was a bonus and a nice way for the girls and us to relax. There was no charge for the pool and loan of towels while we were there (11/27 - 12/1/09). Location near the Dom and the U-Bahn was helpful and there were several small stores and restaurants nearby, including a very nice wine shop. We and our granddaughters had a wonderful holiday together in Cologne and we would ALL recommend this hotel highly!

“Excellent hotel”

We very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is in an excellent location being only a 5 minute walk from the railway station. The reception staff were friendly and all spoke perfect english. It was spotlessly clean and tidy throughout and our room was very spacious. Entry to the pool, jacuzzi and sauna was free but they do charge an additional fee to use the gym. I would definately recommend this hotel.

“Silence and comfort under the shadow of Dom!”

Hotel has a great location; it is 3-5 min. walk to train station and Dom, you can get easily to shopping district, and "old city". Even my std. room had a king size bed, and was large enough for spending time in w/o feeling squeezed. Bathroom was new furnished, and cleaned every morning. The italian restaurant is a nice alternative to try; prices are moderate, and food is very good. There is a public internet access, slow but good for email check, and for travel arrangements. You had to pay a small amount to use fitness center, which surprised me for a four star hotel. Next time I'd definitely stay in the same hotel!

“Excellent Hotel”

This was a hotel that was excellent in every respect. The staff on reception were very helpful and multi-lingual. The rooms were very clean. The swimming pool was also excellent. It was a 4* hotle and we only paid circa 50 pounds per night per room for it. We would have no hesitation in recommending it.

The room was clean, comfortable, large and modernly decorated. The location of the hotel is great. You can reach all the touristic places by walking. The main train station and the famous Cologne Cathedral is almost nearby the hotel. The breakfast is not included and very expensive in the hotel. You can find a lot of eating places around. I will stay here again when I go to Cologne.
