“suited my purposes”
The hotel was fine for a 3star.The room had everything I needed (though a minibar would have been good) & the breakfast excellent. The only slight problem was that the hotel is in 2 halves. Therefore to get to the breakfast room,I had to go down to the 1st floor (lift),walk down to the ground floor, cross the reception area & then go up a flight of stairs to the 1st floor. There would be problems for someone disabled. On leaving, the guy at reception was a bit offhand, but otherwise the staff were pleasant enough. The hotel is in a good location - plenty of restaurants nearby & good transport links.
“Quality, clean 3* hotel in great neighborhood”
The hotel was clean, well situated and the staff were very helpful. The Rudolphplatz neighborhood was terrific. Great full breakfast inside or on a patio. And free. The only negative, which was a problem two days that I was there, no air-conditioning.
“Pleasantly surprised.”
Though there were a few things missing that would be considered "standard" by some travelers, the hotel made every effort to provide everything we asked for. (No airconditioning in building, no hair dryer in bathroom or coffe making ability in room). However, when we asked if they might have a fan, one was brought to us immediately. We asked for a bucket of ice--no problem. Iron available upon request. And the breakfast they served in the morning was outstanding: fresh fruit, meat, cheese, eggs, bread, cereal, yoghurt, juice, coffee, tea. The service was excellent. Nothing we asked was for was denied. We would absolutely stay here again.
“Nice hotel in a nice area”
Hotel was in a nice area of Cologne with lots of shops and restaurants located within close walking distance. Rooms were nice, but varied in size (had 2 rooms for family of 4). One room was typical European size - limited, second was reasonably large and airy looking out over street.
“a nice hotel in a good location”
I enjoyed staying this hotel! My twin beds room was rather small, and didn't have too much of good view since it's in the back of the building. Other than that, the bed was comfy and the whole place was very clean, the stuff were very pleasant. Specially the very traditional European breakfast (included) was fantastic. The lobby and front sitting area were tastefully and warm decorated, feel comfortable. Also it's in a nice area, and the U-bahn station is near by, very easy to get in and out.
“Home away from Home”
A very pleasent stay. The hotel was in a wonderful neighbourhood - walking distance to everything, restaurants, grocery store, shopping malls, the Dom & pubs galore!! The staff was superb & hotel manager a gem. Cologne has a lively nightlife, if you're looking for an uninterupted sleep - ask for a room on the top floor & away from the kitchen! Otherwise - I'd stay there again in a heartbeat!
“Great hotel for people who want someone to crash”
This hotel was in a good position as it was very easy to walk into the city centre (about 10/15 mins) and it was close to the two main going out areas for the evening, so there are lots of bars and restaurants around. The hotel itself was clean and did an amazing breakfast. The room was small but it is all you need if you are just needing somewhere clean and quiet to sleep ready for another busy day! I felt that our room was very clean and they also don't take your towels every day and replace them if you don't want them too so they are environmentally aware. The only thing I would say is that the foyer was very smokey all the time and in fact clothes that we didn't wear smelt smokey when we got home even though we had a non-smoking room - but everywhere you go in Cologne is smokey as everyone seems to smoke! The staff were also friendly and very helpful.
“Beware of Summer Heat!”
The hotel was clean and may be comfortable in cooler months but has no air conditioning and was unbearably hot during summer. The staff provided us a fan at our request but it did little to help us cool down since our room faced west and we were blasted with baking sun until very late in the evening.
“Large room”
The Flandrischer Hof was a decent hotel, the room we had was the largest hotel room I've stayed in in Europe. The room wasn't brand new, but it was nice and very clean. The breakfast was pretty good - bread, cheeese, deli meats, and even some fresh fruit. Most importantly, the location was good, a couple of subway stops from the center of town, plenty of restaurants, even a grocery store nearby. No hair dryer in the room.
“Best breakfast ever”
Stayed for one night in transit and was suprised at quality of the hotel. Just outside central area so bit of walk down to chathedral area but probably explains good value. The best breakfast we've ever had in a hotel. Large number of steps up to lift for room could be a problem for some.
