We chose to stay at this hotel for two nights whilst returning back to the UK after a rail holiday around Switzerland.
The hotel is so close to the railway station and very well placed for visiting all of Colognes attractions. To get to the hotel you exit from the station on the opposite side to the cathedral, and the hotel is at the end of the station square, just a couple of minutes away. The hotel was a Best Western when we booked last year, but has changed it's name to Wyndham Koeln.
Upon arrival we were not disappointed and were very pleased with our very clean, spacious, superior room. Could not fault the hotel, which appeared to be full and busy. The room had a decent safe, tea and coffee making facilities, aircon and free Wi-Fi too.
There were supermarkets and fast-food in the station nearby and plenty of bars and restaurants in the old town. The pedestrianized shopping streets were very impressive.
Stayed here for the christmas markets. Very convenient, only a short walk away. Clean and comfortable bedrooms. Some have said small, I say cosy. Excellent reception staff. We arrived at 10am and didn't expect our room to be ready, just to be able to leave our cases. Room was ready at 10 so we were able to not only leave our cases but also freshen up. I would definitely stay here again.
I had read other reviews of this hotel and was slightly concerned at some of the comments made, however I found this hotel to be very clean, rooms comfortable and in good location, very good value for money. The owner and all his team were very friendly, I would certainly stay there again
My recent stay at the hotel was excellent. As others have said, it has an excellent location and is comfortable in every way. The breakfast is outstanding. It an old-fashioned German hotel with keys with a big weight so you hand it in upon leaving; a nice old and personal tradition as is always including breakfast each morning! Also rooms with sinks but without toilet and shower is still a great way to save money in Europe. These facilities were located directly in the same hallway and were easy, clean and no hassle to use. Danke.

I'm a man of few requirements. After a long day of travel, the last thing I want to do is lug my bags up a hundred stairs, but hey...sometimes that's what you have to do. Once getting to the room, which is tiny (and hey...sometimes that's how they are,) I plopped down on bed to check the internet. The signal worked, but there was no internet. And, yes, sometimes that happens. So I went back downstairs and inquired about the internet issues. The receptionist made it clear that we were not friends and that she would not be interested in helping me figure out what might be the problem. I asked if she could at least turn off the modem and then turn it back on again so that it could reset. Her response was something along the lines of, "I'm not good with those things. So no. I don't want to do this simple thing for you so that you can check on your business and personal matters back at home."
It's a little thing, but so many little things added up to one big thing. For that reason, I have to give this "hotel" a poor rating.

It was pleasing that nothing had changed, including the staff. All very pleasant and extremely helpful. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and there is penty of choice for breakfast. Its location is excellent only two minutes walk from the station one way, and two minutes to the the cathederal and main christmas market and shops the other. We will be returning again next year.
Great location by the train station. I got to the hotel at 9:30am after a 9 hour flight and they had a room open at their sister hotel a block down the street. It was very nice of them to allow me to check in so early and get some sleep. Great staff and nice room.
