My wife and I stayed for a few days whilst visiting relatives in Tavira and really enjoyed the hotel's location. It is close enough to the town to be convenient by car, yet far enough out of town to be a somewhat quieter and more relaxing environment.
If you need the internet, the wifi is free in reception and the reception staff can supply a code to access it. If you purchase a coupon for internet access in the room, be sure to check the validity carefully though as the "24 hour" access passes they gave me varied between 5 to 63 hours validity in reality when I checked the expiration time and date printed on them.
Be aware as well, if you have any valuables you'd like to secure in the room, although the hotel supply a small safe in the wardrobe you have to rent the lock and key from reception.
Although the staff are really very friendly and pleasant, they are often overwhelmed by guests and it can be quite an exercise in patience whilst waiting if you need anything.
The meals were very nice and breakfast was very pleasant indeed. The only thing which I would have liked is if the egg station could cook more than just pancakes - I really fancied the idea of an omelette in the morning and this was not possible.
Overall though, a lovely place to relax and to base yourself while exploring the local area.

Quintal is a 'farm' hotel near Lousa. The main farmbuildings are 18th century, but they are wonderfully restored and the hotel offers a very pleasant experience. The hotel is impeccably clean. The grounds are really well kept. The breakfast is great and the owners go out of their way to make your stay special (with little things like fresh fruit or cake in your room). The children loved the swimming pool and the chickens. Actually, I had only one minor point: the bed in my room was very romantic but not very comfortable! The beds in the room of my children seemed fine, so it probably was just bad luck.
This is a very lovely boutique hotel and the rooms are spacious overlooking the mountains. It is rather difficult to find, but the hotel staff were very helpful and guided us into the town at night. It is very centrally located and is within an hour to two hours of spectacular sites of historical and natural significance. The restaurant was fantastic and the service impeccable.
It was an idyllic relaxing holiday with a lovely pool set in the middle of a vineyard. The hotel staff were helpful and spoke excellent english. The dinner and wine selection was great. The old convent building is much better than the photos. Highly recommended. There a charming historic museums, roman ruins and historic town centres nearby.
