The medieval Veste Coburg, one of Germanys grandest castles, stands on a hilltop above Coburg. Martin Luther stayed at the castle in 1530. Today, it houses an outstanding museum. The city also offers its share of culinary pleasures, most notably the Coburger Bratwurst, grilled over a pinecone fire. Coburg hosts several major celebrations, including, rather surprisingly, the annual Samba Festival.
