“very helpful and courteous staff.”

I would certainly recommend the place if you are looking for something friendly, small and classy. Part of the hallway was under renovation upstair but the rest was well done. The staff is very helpful and breakfast was nice. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Nothing fancy but a good place to stay. Walking distance to some of the attractions and especially to the university and hospital,

“Very pleasant”

Great location for Case Western Uni but quite a way from downtown. Classic hotel. Courteous staff. Good breakfast. Lacks the edge of similar UK hotels. No safe in the room. No fruit or nibbles in the room. Quiet and comfortable.

Area recommendations
University Circle. Pleasant area. Museums, botanical gardens etc.

“A very nice hotel and will definitely stay there again when visiting the area .”

Overall this is a great place to stay , very nice and helpful people . I would have liked a more comfortable chair with a foot stool to relax in than what I had in room 103 .

Area recommendations
Visit the botanical gardens that are near and the R 'n R hall of fame a few miles away .

“Great Historical House Hotel”

The hotel is a historical mansion converted to a hotel. Interior and exterior absolutely beautiful. It is like renting a luxurious bedroom in someone's house.

“We'll be back”

We loved this hotel, it has an old word charm. Friendly staff, comfy room, convenient parking, next door to museums and restaurants and the Botanical garden. We were driving up from the South and got scared of driving through the "not nice" neighborhood but how happy we were when saw the Hotel! I agree with someone saying earlier in the reviews that the only negative is that there was no fridge in the room.

Area recommendations
Definitely around the Hotel.
Dining
Also we won't recommend to dine at L'albatros near by to the Hotel. The servers and food on a 10 scale were a 4.

“nearly perfect”

The Glidden House is elegant and charming. The staff were friendly and helpful. The morning buffet provided all of the essentials in a beautiful setting. The wi-fi was speedy; the beds comfortable, the shower refreshing. The other guests were tres chic and personable. The parking was convenient. The only and very small complaint was the lack of a room refrigerator. Nearly perfect!

Area recommendations
University Circle (art museum, garden center/arboretum, natural history museum), Little Italy (Presti's! gelato, people-watching from sidewalk cafes), Coventry (Tommy's-perfect felafel, spinach pies, hummus, baba ganoush; and then shopping), Lee Road (Mitchell's Chocolates, lots of great restaurants--Thai, Mexican, American diner, and more)
When to go
Not in winter--way too cold. Spring can be unpredictable, wet and cold or suprisingly hot. I went in mid-July, which can also be hot, but instead was perfect. Sunny yet breezy. The flowers and trees were gorgeous. Be prepared for allergies, though, anytime from spring to fall. August gets muggy. September is golden, but the humidity can linger, or the cold weather come early! (but a perfect month for traveling to the far neighboring areas for apples and other fruits). Autumn can also be visually exciting--as the tree leaves change colors, but I generally prefer summer.

“High End Service in the Heart of Cleveland”

From the friendly check-in at the end of the long drive, to one of the nicest continental breakfasts I've had anywhere, staying at the Glidden House was like having an oasis of relaxation in the heart of the city. This is my new favorite place to stay when I visit Cleveland.

“Great Historic Place”

The room was amazingly beautiful, comfortable bed, large flat screen television. Across the street from the botanical gardens, walking distance. Can see the green house/ butterfly atrium from the hotel. Hotel staff recommended La Barberia for a pedicure in Little Italy; best pedicure I've ever had! The restaurant directly next door (Sergio's) provides food for room service at night, but is steps away for take out at other times. Little pricey, but amazingly delicious food! Best double cheeseburger I think I've ever had! Needed a cab to the airport, hotel staff ordered a private car for me. Don't know the price difference, but was probably cheaper, actually. Only criticism I have is they had no curtains and the blinds wouldn't roll completely up or down; especially if you have a red eye and need to sleep during the day, it's hard to get the room dark. Otherwise great place.

Area recommendations
Little Italy-- has cobblestone streets, and the Case Western campus.
