All decent and pleasant. Staff kind and civilized. Funny start as my husband and I were assigned a room that we discovered was used and not cleaned (undone bed etc). So we immediately went back to the reception and told the man that probably he got it wrong... And the incredible thing was that he did not even apologize; he just handed us a new key for a new room, as if it could be a normal mistake. Italian style??????
For the rest it is a basic hotel and reflects the medium price range.
Worth trying, they are kind and they also have decaffeinated tea and coffee. A plus nowadays.
My husband had stayed here before and I'm happy to agree with his view that the Florence is a good base for exploring Milan and great value. The staff are friendly and professional. Our room was compact, but clean and very comfortable.
However if you have an early start, and need an early breakfast, bear in mind that it is a small dining room so you need be prompt to secure a table.

I chose this hotel based on it's proximity to the university. The room was basic and slightly dated but clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good with plenty of choice The staff at this hotel are its real asset. This was my first visit to Milan, they were all polite, helpful and more than ready to give advice on anything from what to see, where to eat and how to get around .Nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel is a little noisy due to the proximity of the station, something that does not really bother me but might be a problem for a light sleeper.
If you want an inexpensive hotel and don't care about luxury amenities I would recommend it. The hotel furniture's and décor are a bit outdated. No English speaking channels all in Italian. So, if you want a more modern feel than I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

it was a good experience. the hotel is clean and all the basic requirements are there. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. There is wifi and the kitchen was equiped appropriately. The residence is near bus station with easy access to down town and Milan central station.
"A interesting stay, in a strange area for a hotel"
This is a nicely done up apartment style hotel, which is closer to a B&B than a hotel in our opinion. It has been done up stylishly tasteful and the couple put on a great effort to make you comfortable. You need to be aware that you will be sharing a bathroom with another room, which isn't a big deal but is a bit different if you're expecting to be in a corporate style hotel or a normal hotel set up. The room itself was nicely decorated and had a balcony, but was fairly small and really only had a TV bed and a few nice simple chairs and cabinets. It is tastefully put together on a budget, but could see it not being for everyone.
Hotel was fine down a side street nice and quiet Staff were fine and helpful Price was fair for the quality Rooms small but clean but starting to need to be redecorated .i did not eat in the hotel so cannot pass comment on the breakfast and food
The University district buzzes with student cafés and historic sights. The imposing 15th-century Ca’ Granda was once the old city hospital and is now home to Milan’s state university. To the west is the beautiful Basilica di Sant’Ambrogio, set on the piazza named after Milan’s patron saint, St Ambrose. His feast day is on 7th December, also the traditional opening of La Scala’s opera season.
