“Pestum ruins”

If you plan to go to Paestum to see the Ruins there, plan to know some Italian. This area is remote and we didn't know any Italian to get along. The ruins are worth the long drive as well as the beautiful country side in transit. The ruins in Paestum are like going to Athens, and seeing Greek antiquities.

Area recommendations
We had quite an adventure in Paestum area. We took a train that leaves you off at the ruins. The hotel turned out to be 3 miles from the ruins, with no public transportation. A nice Gelatteria owner ended driving us to the Castle 900. Salvatore the owner didn't speak english, so thank goodness for google translation. He was lovely, the hotel was wonderful and charming. Breakfast and dinner are in the adjoining restaurant that was delicious.
