The Xara Palace was a beautiful hotel, the staff were so helpful and the hotel exceeded our expectations. Mdina in our opinion was the best place to go for a quiet peaceful holiday. We visited for the Mdina Classic Car Grand Prix which was fantastic and after the day to return to such a peaceful hotel with luxurious decor was the icing on the cake. Felt quite sad when we left the hotel as we would have loved to stay longer. Mdina is a beautiful Silent City with some lovely restaurants and wine bars and even though it was a little busy during the day with 'tourists' it was still peaceful. A romantic place to go for couples if you like it quiet and peaceful.

Room spacious and clean, however it was not clearly stated in the description that the free wifi and the air conditioning only applied in the reception area. The room only had a rather inadequate ceiling fan. Also there was no mention that there is a 50 euro deposit for the room key. A room safe could be hired as also could an extra fan but these had a deposit of 10 euros apiece and a daily charge, meaning your funds are 70 euros down instantly if you want security and comfort on your holiday.
We arrived in the evening to a busy reception area where people were sitting and talking and interacting with staff. We were made welcome, although we could only get into our room the next morning, which we weren't too happy about at all. However, the next morning we moved into our room and all was well. We had a lovely room, which was kept very clean with a change of towels every day. There was plenty of storage for our clothes. The hotel had a gym and swimming pools, all very good indeed. The breakfasts were superb with a range of British and Continental foods, and plenty of coffee and tea on tap. All cooked well and the staff in the dining room were very friendly, efficient and worked together as a team. A walk from St Paul's Bay to Bugibba Bay was delightful together with all the welcoming places to visit. The car drivers were so polite as were the people and trying some Maltese dishes made our holiday more interesting.
Lovely self catering accommodation with lovely view of the bay from the front of the apartments, however We do note that there were rear apartments that only have a view of a mural wall, which if we had, we would have been a little disappointed with.
Facilities in apartment and space was very good, however the beds weren't the most comfortable.(hard mattress, personal preference?)
It was late in season and the pool was " Bracing" and only had sun till noon.May be warmer earlier in season??However a beautiful ,clean and well positioned pool.
The only contact we had with the apartment manager was efficient and friendly.
Situated around the corner of the more busier part of the bay, which suited us well.
Restaurant food was fine and staff were as helpful as they were able and very friendly.
Local transport was easily accessible, affordable and well worth it.
We would stay here again.
We got exactly what we had paid for and expected. The room was dated except for some poorly done renovations in the bathroom. If you want a place to sleep with breakfast: this is the place! The front desk was helpful, and provided us with two drinking glasses when we requested them. The hotel is close to the main square and right on the bus line. It's easy and affordable to take the X3 to and from the airport: only 1.50 euros per day. There are "beach options" within a five minute walk. Malta is not known for sandy beaches, and the swimming areas near the hotel lead directly into the sea from "stone formations." I recommend the Golden Bay Beach which is accessible by bus. It was sandy and beautiful with beach chairs and umbrellas for rent (11 euros for 2 chairs and 1 umbrella.) This budget hotel provided exactly what we needed for a three night stay. FYI: busy nightlife in area which is loud. It may not be good for small children.
