“Nice Comfy Hotel”

Though i only stayed for a night, it was a very pleasant one. The location was very convenient, just down the road from a whole street of various restaurants and just a few minutes drive away from the train station and airport. Bruce, the guy who checked us in was very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. When i had to leave the next morning for an early train and i had to return my key, there wasn't anyone at the reception (cos it was 730 in the morning) and there wasn't a box for key drop, so i ended up leaving the key in the room. This was the only thing about my stay that was worrying as the key might have been lost subsequently. Other than this small issue the stay in this hotel was very pleasant.

“Excellent stay”

Cozy and roomy motel rooms with all amenities for cooking. Clean. Owners are friendly and accommodating. It is a nice walk across the park to get to the botanical garden and to the old downtown. Many restaurants on Riccarton Street that can be reached on foot, easy to get around by car too. We would stay there again.

“Nice and comfortable”

Nice location right across the street from Hagley Park. All staff and the owners were very friendly and helpful. Some road construction on the street raised the noise level but that's not anything that the Motel could control and with all the repair work post earthquake it's to be expected.

“Good basic accommodation”

If you are looking for basic clean friendly accommodation - this is it. Excellent location - 10 mins through park to Botanic Gardens - 20 mins to centre. For a studio it was well equipped with cooking utensils etc and there is a 24 hr small supermarket 2 mins away. Also a very large shopping center 15 mins walk including a huge suppermarket. $7.50 bus ride from airport (though shuttles are door to door and only $10 or $12) Plenty of eating options from take out pizza and fish and chips to very reasonalbly priced bars/bistros/sushi bars etc. The property is old - low rise (good for earthquakes!) and is on a main road but most of the rooms front a quiet side street. Sophisticated it is not - just good value.

“good basic place”

Good hotel. Friendly staff- and helpful. Room had all the basics, plus good coffee! Bathroom was a bit dated and small. I would stay again

“A good choice with friendly hosts”

This motel is in a great location, right across the street from Hagley Park. There are a lot of restaurants around the corner, and you can walk 20 minutes through the park to see the Red Zone. It's also on a bus line from the airport. The motel offers over 50 SKY channels, so you can definitely stay up-to-date on what is going on in the world. The furnishings are a little dated, but Bruce and Maggie are slowly purchasing new items. Our dining table was brand new, but the couch was from the 1970s. The fully self-contained kitchens were a godsend, and there is a 24-hour mini-market just around the corner, and a Pak-N-Save that is a 15-minute walk. I would definitely stay here again.
