Great experience in line with earlier reviews. Prime location, being literally steps away from the metro station. Shops & restaurants nearby, from high end restaurants, chains, all the way to the ubiquitous streethawkers seen practically everywhere in town. Didn't opt for having breakfast included, and I doubt that'd be necessary. Clean and spacious room.
Main complaint being room was not smoke-free, but I doubt any room in China is truly smoke-free.

paid for 6 days/nights however must say that i was so disappointed that i checked-out after staying a night. the hotel is in an out lying area with no activities at all. there is no proper car park and the vicinity is like a rubbish dump. will never stay in that area again. jiang bei is much better and the hotels are just as cheap if not cheaper.never again
There is a choice of some fine Western Hotels in Chongqing, but if your only stopping a few nights then JJInns cant dissappoint
They are basic Chinese orientated hotels, I didnt see any other weterners in them on my stay
The staff at this one tried really hard to help me as I needed a train ticket to Chengdu that evening, which with a few conversations via google translate I got a staff member to go with me to the local travel office, not the most sulubrious of places, to get one
The Sofitel is unadecuately located east of the city and far from the rest of horde of hotels in Chongqing, a city with traffic as heavy as your worst spring vacation in Beijing. Having said that, it is quite an impressive locale in the middle of... well, not much. Beautiful hotel; decoration in truly unique (I ended up taking pictures of some parts of the lobby just for keeps) and the room was nicely appointed with a beautiful room overlooking... another office building next to the hotel. :(. Don't expect much from the staff as far as English goes; even in one of the lounges the staff had a really hard time understanding complex native English words such as .... Cappuccino. It's a China thing I guess.
We really had a hard time with Chinese manners (people jumping in front of lines or sitting in your table for not wanting to walk farther etc) but other than that loved my experience at the Sofitel. The Expedia rating was right on spot.
