For English speaking person, a little difficult but staff are very helpful with phone apps etc helping. Breakfast is very comprehensive and easy to select many different styles of breakfast taste. Excellent.

very noisy, room doors slamming at all hours. busy area of Chongqing. ads said 24 room service, they did not. English is spoken but not understood. reason we stayed there was the room service because we don't speak or read chinese making hard to eat out without help. very disappointed because it is run by IHG and they are normally fantastic. not here. they did nothing about in house noise, walls are super thin. not a good stay

Carpet can be improved
Not easy to find and not recommended for senior travellers. Public transportation is available but you need to walk; eg 10-15 mins walk to the nearest metro station at the Shin Kong place, at Jiazhou station. Incidentally, Shin Kong place is a beautiful shopping and food complex, which is worth a visit. The front desk speaks little English but I suggest they can improve by having better knowledge of their local area. The room is clean and bright but the carpet (colour) makes it look tired. If the Holiday Inn Express logo colour is used, it will improve greatly.

Moderate Price Hotel-Good Location
I stay here frequently when in Chongqing China. It is a good basic western style hotel.The front desk does speak a little English. If you can speak a little Mandarin or are with someone who does, it makes a big difference. The hotel staff is then quite responsive.

The hotel is surrounded by motorways and there is no double glazing in any of the rooms. The restaurant had a good mix of European and Chinese food for breakfast. The cleaners were excellent and the room was always well presented. Sadly the reception staff were not interested in helping anyone who had any issues.

Good personal trip
I had a wonderful two-day vacation staying at Holiday Inn Express in Chongqing. The hotel is very clean and the room is spacious. The only thing that is inconvenient is getting a taxi from the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel to other travelers.

Area over bridge to the left has a great family street and excellent hot pots, Old time kitchen and Fish hot pot place great. Rem Rem Ri grocery store to the left of hotel was fabulous

Holiday Inn Chongqing
Hotel is clean and good. The only thing not very satisfactory is the service. They do not send stuffs to the room. When I ask for an adapter, I had to collect it myself at the counter. Location is good, with restaurants and roadside food nearby. Also, shopping area is just a stone throw away.

A/C issues with the room
self-adjusted the thermostat to 18 degrees Celsius. However, room temperature was stuck at 25 degrees Celsius. Complained to the front desk on the first day but no improvement was noticed on the next two nights. Aside from the room temp, everything was just okay. Location was near a local supermarket.

The air condition was faulty because the room temperature never got down below 26.5C even after several complaints. The in-house "engineer" was absolutely no help.

Nice hotel
Nice hotel, location is fair. Need a taxi to see sights in Chongqing. If you do not know Chinese, Chongqing would be very hard to get around. Fortunately, the hotel manager spoke good English and could write down in Chinese places I wanted to see so I could show this to the taxi drivers. Taxis available on main road by hotel. I only saw about 3 westerners at the hotel. Everyone else was Chinese. Money changing at Bank of China about 5 minute walk from hotel.

The Pros: If you're looking for hotel that is a good value, fairly good location (depending on what you are doing in Chongqing), and modern, then this is the hotel for you. I am a regular visitor to Chongqing and it is a good central location for my needs. There are plenty of little restaurants and even a supermarket within a few blocks. Getting a bus or cab near the hotel is fairly easy, if you know how. The room itself has usually been clean. I've stayed here for extended periods and they are good about changing linens and towels etc. The house cleaning people are good about helping you out if you speak a bit of Mandarin. The Chinese breakfast that you can include when you make your reservation is well worth it, if you're okay with Chinese breakfast. I'm a westerner, but I eat Chinese breakfast and the one included with the price is more than adequate. The Cons: not everyone speaks English and for the ones that do, it is limited. Ask for a room facing away from the main traffic, since the windows allow in some road noise. The Wi-Fi for the Holiday Inn is slow, so also ask for an alternate if you're not worried about security. Lastly, and I have mentioned this before in a prior review, the carpets need to be replaced (they look dirty and stained) and the bathrooms to be thoroughly regrouted. Sometimes there is a odor from the drains in the sinks. Also no robes, which would be a nice little touch Holiday Inn should pay attention to this!. With just a bit of upgrading (new caroet, fresh paint, regrouted baths, robes) it could easily be 4 stars and I for one would be willing to pay a bit more for some nice upgrades. Nevertheless, it's still a great value for a business traveler, but not if you are a fussy foreigner with 5 star expectations. I will stay here again with hopes that they will upgrade a bit.

Chongqing Lengthy Stay
This hotel is good for a mid way location between airport and the various CBDs. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, markets nearby for easy access. It is a great value for the location. Sometimes you can get the breakfast included with your room rate and it is still great value. It is starting to get a little worn and the cleanliness of the carpet and bathroom needs a little work. But for a basically safe and nice hotel, this is a good value. If you need a high end 5 star for business or for a short stay then this is not the place for you. Always request a room facing away from the expressway if possible.

Okay for a short stay
Overall, the hotel was fine except that basically none of the hotel staff spoke English. That was very inconvenient. Also, once I was in a real pickle with needing to simply make a local call, and I asked staff behind the main hotel counter if they would let me make this call...and they refused! That is unforgiveable and totally unreasonable for any hotel to do. The breakfast was pretty good.

All in all, a nice clean hotel at a great value price. VERY, very few of the Staff could speak any English, but this is true of the whole city of Chongqing. The breakfast they provide is good, but with they could make it a little different each day. For a 4 day stay it gets a little boring. But I would stay there again any time because it is a great value for the total product delivered.

Clean, comfortable, and relatively new hotel with complimentary hot breakfast. The closest subway station, Jiazhoulu, is a 15-20 minute walk away, but it's a bit difficult to find. There's also a grocery store, Renrenle, in the next building over. Service was usually good, although at checkout they tried to charge me a second time for my stay (eventually resolved after a call to the manager). Overall good value.

Good choice indeed
Rooms and service are very good, hotel is very fresh indeed and overal makes a good value for money. The most important drawbacks are: 1. staff is friendly and helpful, but does not understand any english, it takes some effort really to get things clear with them. 2. hotel is quite new, so even showing the taxi driver the address spelled with hieroglyphs not always help to have him understood where you want to go. Be sure to have some additional info on location to show him, for example the nearest metro station Jiazhoulu - of course, in chinese :) BTW, it's only 10 min walk from hotel, very good. 3. hotel is facing the crossing of Song Pai and Longhua, which is very busy route towards downtown, lots of jams in the rush hours, and also lots of noise 24h - be sure to ask for a room facing the opposite side, this should be more quiet, but hey, no english again.. :( windows could provide more noise isolation, they are not very good. 4. they will debit 500Y upon your check-in as a safety deposit, and return them at your check out - but due to interenational transfers you might not get them back earlier than after a week. that was an unpleasant surprise, as there is no prior info about it anywhere. but despite all those, again, very good value for money and from this location 30-50Y taxi ride takes you literally to every possibly imaginable city end.
