Since the discovery of the Chichen Itza site, archaeologists have favored the Hacienda Chichen Resort as a residence while conducting their academic studies of the site. In tribute to these individuals. Guest rooms at the Hacienda Chichen Resort are air conditioned with en-suite bathrooms and a private garden terrace. “Grounds lovely, attractive rooms- service not good”
Hotel is in a lovely setting. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms spacious, attractive and clean. It was the little things that were missing such as drinking glasses and glasses for the bathroom. The grounds are not lit at night and are pitch black. It is very difficult to find your way about without falling over. No torches were available. No map of the grounds and when we asked how to get to the ruins for the evening light show, a vague answer with some incomplete directions was the reply. A tour guide showed us in the end. The service at breakfast was awful, long delays in taking our order and a long wait for cold coffee. The young lady on reception was very helpful but for all the others, It seemed that everything was too much trouble- although not when we were paying our bill and the staff hung around reception hoping for a tip! In the end, we used the bar and restaurant of the hotel next door and actually wished we had stayed there..
“Amazing location 5 mins walk to Chichen Itza world heritage site”
So pleased we drove and stayed overnight at Chichen Itza. We arrived and went to the evening light show and then went again to view the site properly at 8am. It was amazing having the site empty and to ourselves before the coach loads of tourists arrived.
“Maintenance issue”
Overall, the hotel is historic and has beautiful grounds and landscaping and is located within excellent proximity to the ruins site. The food is excellent and there's a very nice atmosphere. However, they charged significantly extra for the Mayan Ritual Tub bathroom, but the faucets on the tub did not work.
“Amazing gardens”
This hotel has the most amazing gardens and seems to be genuinely an eco hotel (rather than one that just uses eco for marketing purposes). I was really impressed as the hotel had lots of character also. The only downside was that the swimming pool was being worked on and so not available. This hotel gives a percentage of its profits to charity which was impressive too.
“Very relaxing atmosphere”
The hotel was beautiful. The pool was great, large and the right temperature. Eat at the resturant, was good. It is expensive but worth the price. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were greeted at reception with a drink, nice way to start the visit.
“Overpriced basic accommodation”
Overpriced hotel. Poor air conditioning with strong odours of air freshner in the rooms-bungalows. Overpriced dinner and not a lot of it. No offer of coffee etc post dinner. No towels at pool. Overall a run down look to the accommadation.
