“Well??? You'll get what you pay for.”
Needless to say we weren't expecting a 4 star quality hotel for the price we were paying to stay at the Travelodge in Melrose Park. We pretty much expected a rundown hotel in a rundown area, but a cheap place to stay...and that's what we received. To focus on the positives, although it wasn't in a great part of town, the location is actually on a fairly decent commercial stretch along Mannheim Rd. Drive down the street and you'll find several Mexican and Italian food restaurants, a Super Target and bunch of other places to shop. You are also close to a Metra Station that'll take you to the loop, 1.6 miles to be exact. There's a subpar continental breakfast offered to you from 7-9 am, with cereal, coffee, bagels, bananas, apples and toaster waffles. It's better than nothing I guess. Free Wi-Fi is available along with a couple public desktops in the main lobby so you can hop on the web if needed to. Parking wasn't an issue too, which is a plus. You'll pay a pretty penny for parking if you're staying in a hotel downtown.
Take this place for what it is. If you're looking for modern amenities and a very comfortable place to stay, keep looking. If you're trying to stay in Chicagoland on a tight budget then this probably isn't your worst option.
