Good hotel

Posted 18-Dec-2014
Pros: Comfort of the bed, cleanliness of room and bathroom.
Cons: Decor.
Location: Lou Malnati's Pizzeria is only a 5-7 min. walk away. Very good deep dish Chicago style pizza. Shopping not too far. Starbucks near by.
Stayed for one night. Room and bathroom very clean. Decor overall maybe a bit dated. Staff very friendly. Had no view (4th floor) but did not matter, since most of the time was spent outside of the room anyway. Close to good food, a bit far to walk (especially with luggage) from the Red Line Subway. Would stay there again. Bed was VERY comfortable.

Great hotel in the heart of Downtown

Posted 18-Dec-2014
The Whitehall Hotel was a very pleasant experience. We thought the pictures looked great but when we arrived everything was better than expected! Everything was working great except for the safe which needed a nudge to get open, but it doesn't take away from the overall excellent rating. Thanks to all the courteous and helpful staff.

Ok for price and location

Posted 16-Dec-2014
Was decent and average. Like location of hotel. Valet parking pretty pricey. Staff barely speaks English. Very rude and lazy.

Fab Location

The hotel was in a central downtown location. It does need an update, but it was more than suitable.

Great location, but noisy

Posted 14-Dec-2014
Located close to Mag mile and Rush street made this a perfect spot for us. Unfortunately our room was loud. We were awakened by late night trash and delivery trucks. Fans were also loud.

Great customer service. Smaller room than expected, but great price! Would definitely return again! I was surprised you had to request a mini refrigerator. We had no idea where to put our left overs at first, but none the less, they accommodated.

Great Location and Room comfort but...

Posted 11-Dec-2014
Pros: Location and Room comfort
Cons: Service, Service, Service..
Location: Great Location!
Just got back from a few days in Chicago, highlighted by a Cat Stevens concert! I booked Whitehall based on favorable expedia reviews. On arriving, we were greeted by very friendly, accommodating doormen. They were great! Approaching the front desk I spoke to a seemingly unhappy man, probably around 30ish, who did not seem to want to be there, and his personality was just "Blah..". I asked him what our room was like and he said, "I don't know, I've never taken a tour of the hotel". Ok, welcome to Chicago! Anyway, our room was really nice and very comfortable the entire stay. Bed is great, room is quiet, and we slept like logs the entire time. Next morning we got up and were going to shower and head out. Unfortunately, there was no hot water in the shower. We called down and they sent a service guy up to the room to check it out. He was very nice and called me a bit later to tell me the hot water was back up. We waited about an hour and a half for hot water that morning. The next day I left a msg for the concierge. I cld him to inquire about getting us Cat Stevens tics. I never heard from him until the next day, after the show. (We did end up going as my ticket broker from dallas had to pull some strings). When the concierge cld me back the next day he never apologized, just said he was "off yesterday". Lastly, after all these mishaps, our flight leaving got delayed, so we asked for a late check out, they said "Nope, or we will have to charge you more", Really??

Chicago Charm Hotel

Posted 10-Dec-2014
Great hotel with lots of Chicago charm. Free coffee/tea in the morning, very comfy bed and great shower. Only issue was that the heating was not always working fully, but the room was an okay temperature just not as high as we were setting the thermostat.

Slamming doors

Posted 09-Dec-2014
Pros: Leaving
Cons: Staff, slamming door, decor, water supply
No or lukewarm hot water. Slamming doors thought out the night. Complained to staff, response was rude. Response from front desk supervisor: 'oh I see what you're doing, you want me to take off your mini bar bill'!
