Great hotel. Valet parking was convienient and efficient and was probably market price but cost more than I'd like. Take the time to read the sign by the suitcases if you stay here.

“A cool hotel in a cold town”

Chicago weather can be tough in March but a great place for a weekend trip to the city is The James. The hotel is centrally located, the rooms are comfortable and look good. Your room has a big LCD TV to watch movies after a night on the town, or hang out in the pretty cool hotel lounge for a night cap. The gym is outstanding.

“Excellent boutique in a great location”

I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. Very modern, yet comfortable. The price was reasonable as well (190), especially compared to recent stays in NY and SF.

“Amazing stay at The James!”

We spent 3 nights at the James and couldn't ask for more. The location was great, the room was nice and the staff went above and beyond our expectations. Staff were always available to offer recommendations, directions, help calling a cab, and was really friendly and courteous. Late checkout was an unexpected bonus as was the evening turn-down service.1 block to Michigan Ave meant we did not have to travel far to start our day of sightseeing and we could walk to many of the major sites. We highly recommend this hotl to anyone travelling to Chicago. Pet friendly, kids friendly, and still manage to be romantic for couples. Thumbs up for The James!

My daughter and I spent the weekend in Chicago and loved the hotel. It was located very close to Michigan Ave. for good shopping and sight-seeing. Well, recommended. I would also recommend the Chicago Food Planet tour.

“Great room in a great spot”

This is my second trip to Chicago and The James is an outstanding hotel in a great location. The room was surprisingly spacious for being downtown. There was a separate sitting area with its own TV which is great if you've got an early riser. The linens, towels, sheets were all of a high quality and were maintained by the housekeeping staff. Another bonus is the free in room wireless internet. It wasn't the greatest speed, but it served its purpose. Will definitely look to stay at The James next time I'm back in Chicago.

“Chic venue in great location”

Hotel has been nicely renovated - retro and chic, not too over the top. Location was great as Chicago is an easy city to walk around in nice weather. The James also has fantastic gym/fitness facilities, best on our trip throughout the USA. My only gripe is that you can hear the traffic from below and drivers in Chicago love to honk their horns, but you can hardly blame the hotel or staff for this! Would recommend staying here
