“Great location and good sized room - i recommend The Allerton”

Great hotel for the price in a great location. The room is of a good size and the bed large and comfortable. The room is well appointed and very clean. My only complaint is you have to pay for Internet access.

“Annoying electronic tone ignored by front desk”

Great location, so-so hotel at best. There was a very annoying periodic (once a minute or so) electronic ping from somewhere down the hall that did not stop for our three night stay. Calls to the front desk and a complaint to a hotel employee resulted in nothing. I am glad I brought my ear plugs. Room was OK, but not if you like to sit in a comfortable chair under a lamp to read. There was a bed, a desk, a desk chair and the usual TV/minibar/drawer combo. That's it. Most plugs already used by lamps, radio, etc., so not too good for travelers with cellphones, computers, i-pads and the like that need charging. Great location. Small rooms. Inattentive desk service. I'd rate it a 2.

“Over-all great Hotel”

The Allerton for it's location seemed very reasonably priced and was a fantastic hotel. The only complaint I had was the crowds due to its location; in that I have no interest in shopping the magnificent mile, but I suppose that's my fault for staying there over black friday.

“Great location I would say better than your average 4*”

Room service food wasn't brilliant but bar in lounge area excellent and food served there also much better. Location excellent.

“Amazing Allerton!”

I need an at hone get away. I stay in the south suburbs of Chicago and wanted to enjoy downtown in a cost effective manner for Turkey day weekend. The service was wonderful! All my request were honor asap.

“In the middle of all the action!!”

I loved the fact that you could go left or right and be in the middle of all the shopping and restaurants chicago has to offer. The staff was all always friendly and helpful. Can't wait to come again!!!

“Rooms to small”

Hotel staff great but the rooms are to small. They Felt like a college dorm room.

Though the rooms were smaller than what you would have liked, our room sizes are standard for most hotel rooms in our boutique-sized category (approx. 200-300 sq ft). The Allerton Hotel is a historic building in downtown Chicago, dating back to 1927. As such, the design the layout and design is different compared to what many would expect from other traditional hotels. We apologize if you felt this was an inconvenience during your stay. “very small room and elevators”

The elevator was tiny and had a very long wait because of the size. My room was a tiny corner room. No coffee maker in room and hardly enough room for my small bag. I was glad I was only there for 1 night. The room was facing Michigan Avenue and was very loud. It was on the 9th floor.

“Great location”

Good neighbourhood and conveniently located to locations such as the Observation deck, Apple store and Macy's.

Area recommendations
Take a leisurely walk around the neighbourhood. If sirens keep you awake, avoid the hotel.
