Great hotel in a perfect location!

Posted 28-Jun-2015
Pros: Liked the staff friendliness, the beautiful lobby, and comfy, quiet room.
Cons: Not necessary. It was perfect.
Location: Perfect location, near the best shopping, wonderful restaurants and bars.
Loved this hotel. The staff was very helpful and the lobby was beautiful. It has a great location and the beds were so comfy. Loved the fact that the room was so quiet even in this busy city location. When we went to dinner Friday evening it was raining, the bellman gave us umbrellas to use for our short walk. It's nice perks like that that make this hotel a winner!

Nice hotel, easy checkin. There was a slight musty smell in the guest rooms but nothing horrible.

Sofitel Vs. Hyatt

Posted 22-Jun-2015
I thought I'd give Sofitel a try over Hyatt where I stayed last time. I enjoyed the room, but I felt it was much smaller than hyatt, and the accessories provided in the room were no where near what were provided in hyatt. There is no USB power adapter, something I feel is more of a common place item. The gym area and the bar are also much smaller. The location is alright though. The staff I felt was very nice.

Very nice hotel in a superb location

Posted 17-Jun-2015
Pros: Terrific location. Great staff. Comfortable, clean, almost luxurious rooms.
Professional and helpful staff--especially the concierges. Spacious and well appointed rooms. Comfortable beds. Superb location near terrific restaurants and shops (including the Magnificent Mile), subway/L-train transit, 15 min walk to Memorial Park and the heart of downtown Chicago. Room price was reasonable for the quality.

Great location, great view, clean stylish room, helpful, professional staff. There were so many nice little touches. The only thing that I missed was a usb port for charging devices.

Fantastic location, lovely stay

Posted 15-Jun-2015
We checked in at 1 pm and were given a room on the 31st floor (32-storey hotel, and we did not book or request special room). A few hours later, a large bottle of Evian arrived, with chocolate chip cookies (complementary, also unexpected). The room was extremely comfortable. Very nice bath products. The location is fantastic -- just 1-2 blocks from Michigan avenue, safe and pretty neighborhood, and just behind the hotel (opposite direction from Michigan) is a gourmet market and several restaurants. It is only about a 20-minute walk from Millenium park, < 10 minute walk from the beach (beautiful in the summer). To get to museum campus, can take bus 146 from Michigan.

Ultra Modern Elegance

Posted 13-Jun-2015
Pros: The professionalism and helpfulness of the staff.
Cons: I can't think of anything.
Location: The location of the Sofitel is called Near North making it a convenient location to many fine restaurants and some great shopping nearby.
If you like ultramodern architecture, you will love the Sofitel Hotel in Chicago. We had stayed at other Sofitel Hotels in other cities, (Berlin, New York City) so we knew to expect in the way of subdued lighting, soft casual jazz on the sound system, classy marble bathrooms, and all the amenities of a big city hotel. The staff here is polished and professional but quite friendly. French is the language but all speak very good English. We had a five day stay with our 9 year old granddaughter and minutes after our arrival upstairs on the 23rd floor, there was a knock at the door and in walked a smiling staff person with a silver tray containing 4 perfectly baked chocolate chip cookies and a tall bottle of sparkling water "for the child" who I may say was delighted. Touches like this set the Sofitel apart. As to the basics of our stay, the room was small but extremely comfortable, the bathroom spacious and well appointed with both a tub and a shower. We had a breathtaking view of the vibrant city of Chicago. The location was perfect for us--taxis are easily available but you could also walk to Michigan Avenue for shopping and to a fine array of restaurants. For visits to the many fine museums in Chicago we relied on taxis and never had to wait. We had a wonderful first visit to a diverse and very interesting town and our stay at the Sofitel made it very special indeed .
