Girls Weekend

Posted 27-Dec-2014
Pros: Rooms were lovely; very clean and up to date.
Cons: Elevators, bed sizes in certain rooms.
Went to Chicago for a girls weekend. Had 4 adults staying in one room. The room was very nice and clean. Wish the beds would have been larger, though (only fulls). Only two elevators in the building that were extremely small. Went to the bar upstairs our first evening and felt very out of place. Was very loud and cramped; no seats open at 9PM.

Boutique is the clever marketing term for Tired!

Posted 22-Dec-2014
1: Staff - Don't expect great things from these folks, their concierges are young and inexperienced, they are not problem solvers, and they would have a hard time getting you a table at McDonald's. They are also rude. I asked if we could get a notification once my room was ready..."Check in is at 3:00"... Well Done! 2: Room's & Suites - They are tired and old. they are clean but they need a Face lift. Overall the blame is on me.... I should have not tried and saved $100.00 a night and just stayed at the Sofitel or Swiss Hotel...cause they get it. I even called the Sofitel Concierges to book a dinner and a baby sitter.

Great hotel in the heart of Chicago

Posted 14-Dec-2014
Had a great stay. Beautiful building with old architecture and within minutes walk from the center of the city. Easy access to busses and metro, great staff, and comfy beds! View from the window wasn't the best, but the price made up for it. Thanks!

Convenient location

Posted 12-Dec-2014
The only con worth mentioning is cost to park car - not mentioned in description. $62 for in/out privileges; did NOT anticipate that. There are two public self-parking options within a couple of blocks of hotel but cost overnight averages $40.

Not bad for a business trip

Posted 11-Dec-2014
Location was great. No self park available in the hotel. There is a special parking for hotel guests across the street which was FULL. Noise isolation not good. Free Wi Fi but extremely slow

A Chilly Engagement

Posted 04-Dec-2014
Pros: The bed and kitchenette.
Cons: Air conditioning/heat is old and loud (doesn't work), install a shower door, clean rooms thoroughly, follow through with promises to reimburse!
Location: Good location. A block away from the water and from Michigan (malls/transit).
Pros: Pleasant and helpful staff, a block away from Michigan Ave (transit/taxis/tours), Glazed! Cons: Heat didn't work (pumped cold air) and was loud, not thoroughly cleaned (pizza found in microwave), view (initial room offered overlooked roof of adjacent building and parking lot), never received refund promised. On November 15th, my soon-to-be fiancé and I checked into the Raffaello. We arrived early (reservations for 4pm), but hoped our room would be available or, at very least, we'd be able to drop off our bags. The desk clerk was friendly and had a room for us. Unfortunately, the 2nd floor walk-up, though nice, had a view of the adjacent building's roof (and little else). We asked for a little higher up which they were nice enough to provide ('if you don't ask, you won't get' we were told). The room, though smaller than the first, appeared nice and clean. We stayed for two nights. The room, however, was quite cold, so we attempted to adjust the thermostat with no success. Before going out for the night we mentioned this to the front desk and were told maintenance would have it fixed. When we got back to the room late, it was even colder and the vent was still loudly pumping cold air. Then, to make matters worse, I went to heat up a snack in the microwave only to find a half eaten pizza left by the previous occupant. Finally, at checkout, we were asked about our stay. We mentioned these issues and were told we would be reimbursed some money. This has yet to occur.

Classy hotel, to stay centered with fair price

Posted 02-Dec-2014
Pros: Location, room
Location: Mirai sushi, and several fancy restaurants around, water tower, beach, shopping on Michigan Ave.
front desk staff friendly and patient. The grand suite is very spacious and comfortable, all the amenities functional. The bathroom covers reasonable amount of area, with no bathtub, but that's fine. Next to the Water Tower Place, and close to other shops on Michigan Ave., quite convenient. 5 mins' walk to beach the view from higher level is lovely, overlooking East Delaware St.

3adults, 1 Infant in Deluxe Suite,(1 King+Sofa)

Posted 01-Dec-2014
It was my Family and my sister visiting from overseas, and we were looking for either 2 rooms or one large room. This king suite was perfect for us as far as space. The sofa bed was rather soft, but what more could you expect. There was only 3 coffees in the room, usually even when I stay at cheeper hotel there is like 2 regular and 2 decafs. Used self park which was 34 for over night and multiple entries, not too bad for DT Chicago. As other posts mention the Doughnuts on 1st floor were great. Came back for another one when picking up the car, but all gone. Get one while they have it! We enjoyed the stay and think it was well worth the price we payed.
