“Solid budget motel”
Very clean comfortable rooms, nice staff, inexpensive, standard continental breakfast, no HBO but plenty of cable channels.
“Very Close to Great Lakes Naval Training Center”
This hotel is not a hotel in the traditional sense of the word but rather it is close, convenient and inexpensive if you are looking to stay somewhere in town order to attend the Naval Boot Camp Graduation. This hotel is literally a 8 minute drive away and it worked out well for us. This is especially convenient if you are looking to stay somewhere near the base and spend as much time as you can with your sailor and still have them back to base by the time liberty hours are over. The room itself is small but clean and the decor is very outdated. The plus side is that the staff was very accomodating and friendly. They gave us detailed driving directions to help us navigate the Illinois/North Chicago streets and highways and the staff even printed our boarding passes for us as a courtesy (there is no internet access available). All in all, it is a clean place to stay that is close to the naval base; but if you are looking for 4 or 5 star quality, this isn't the place.
“Great Breakfast!”
The breakfast bar was Great! Lots of choices, with many "hot" items. Rooms were roomy and clean. Faint musty smell upon first entering rooms, however, not overpowering. Would consider staying there again.
“No pool , but great breakfasts!”
This hotel was a 3 out of 5. The hotel is older, but the staff and the free breakfasts make up for any inconvience of not having a pool. We stayed there when we went to Six Flags. Since we were in the water all day, not having a pool wasn't a problem. The staff and the peace-and quiet were wonderful!
“I will visit this hotel again”
My son just fininshed his boot camp for Navy. We were close and in a good location to enjoy our time with him. Our Daughter will finish boot camp at the end of March and we will vivt this hotel again. Clean, quite and good service. Continental Breakfast could have been better stocked.
“We would stay again”
Upon arriving the desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the breakfast bar. They had a nice variety of food. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I think my whole party would agree that we would stay there again.
“Waukegan”
Hotel was okay, nothing exceptional, but would stay again. We were there only one night for our daughters graduation from A training at Great Lakes Naval Base. The location was the reason for the choice.
“Needs new maintainance people.”
I had two issues with the room, one was a clanging bathroom fan, the other was that the sink stopper was broken off and missing. The fan was fixed but the sink was not. After a second report of the sink the next day, a stopper was put in the bathroom but not installed onto the sink rod. The front desk and housekeeping people were great, maintainance people not so much.
“Waukegan Quality Inn”
Everything was really good except one thing-the room had a musty smell. I had to spray Lysol several times during my stay. The staff was very nice.
“Basic and out a ways, but clean and confortable”
The hotel is a very basic, older two-story in a suburb a ways out. The listing seemed a bit off on the distance to downtown Chicago (I measured 45 miles to the McCormick convention center), but if you are looking for something with driving access to Chicago and a moderate price this is really a good deal. During rush hour you can take US 41 to downtown, it is much faster than the traffic jams on the interstate. The hotel it is also about ten minutes from Northwestern University, so it is an inexpensive choice if you are touring colleges or the like.
