“You need to ask”

We've stayed at the MONACO before and were impressed. This time, when we made our reservations, we saw that visitors can request a goldfish for their room. We made that request, but when we checked in, there was no goldfish. We did ask at the front desk, and a godlfish was brought up to our room. Also, the hotel mentions wine in the early evening and freshbaked cookies and hard candies in the lobby. Never saw any cookies, and the hard candy seems to have been replaced with almonds and fruit (apples and oranges).

“Great downtown location; Great view!”

The Monaco Chicago was a great place to stay to enjoy the downtown area. Extremely close to the "L" train & subway. Perfect central location from which to begin almost any tour in the Loop and Millennium Park areas. And a wonderful view, if you spring for one of the River View rooms (absolutely worth it). The "reading nooks" that folks rave about ought to be standard issue for any hotel! They allow you to really enjoy the view you've paid for. Finally, got to mention that the staff was everything people have been saying: very friendly and willing to go the extra step to make you feel comfortable and welcome. Would definitely stay there again.

“Great location!”

Within walking distance to great shopping, restaurants, and bar/clubs. Very quiet, clean and comfortable room. The subway stop (State/Lake) is one block away from subway stop where you can catch a train to most parts of CHI town. Nice wine reception and very friendly/helpful hotel staff.

“impeccable hotel!”

we had an amazing time at the hotel monaco. incredible location, wonderfully friendly and helpful staff, clean & comfortable room. loved having a goldfish in our room and the afternoon reviver tea. sign up for their intouch loyalty program and you'll get free wireless in the hotel and a $10 gift tab for the minibar. loved having views of the river. and the south water kitchen downstairs, though a bit pricey, is some of the best food in the city. and they've got a prix fixe menu for dinner that's delicious and a great deal.

“Will use this hotel again”

This was our sisters' trip and we enjoyed this hotel. You can walk to places and use the public transportation. Concierge was very helpful. We truly enjoyed the wine reception from 5 pm til 6 pm. If we go back to Chicago, we will book this hotel again.

“Great service”

I desperately wanted to avoid staying at a Hilton because their service is so poor, and this hotel was the opposite. They clearly care about the customer having a pleasant stay, from the reception desk goldfish bowl and computer terminal provided for customer use, to the free coffee and papers in the foyer. The staff are very friendly and helpful too, and the rooms what you'd expect for a good hotel. Far, far better than any Hilton I've ever stayed in. Cheaper too.

“EXCELLENT”

We loved everything about this hotel. The location downtown is perfect! The room was excellent! We were so comfortable. The staff was so pleasant and friendly! The goldfish in our room was so fun! We will be staying here again when we return to Chicago and will look for a Kimpton Hotel when we travel to other cities.

this hotel was very comfortable and hotel staff was very helpful.. i noticed several people made comments of room being small.. however i thought it was a decent size.. the hotel is also in a very convenient spot ... alot of restaurants, stores and clubs near by.

Staffs are extremely friendly. Thanks to everyone! Especially to Mark and Jorge who were so helpful. Hotel Monaco could use more comfortable beds but in overall, it was a lovely stay.

Downtown Chicago what a beautiful city. Stay at the Monaco Hotel my friend and you are there dead center. We recommend the Monaco to all travelers who want a high level of friendly service, great food, and a comfortable bed. It is a real gem.
