So the entire hotel experience was fantastic start to finish. But what really amazed us was that my wife and I had drinks in the hotel lobby one night and the bartender realized it was my birthday. He then told me my drink was on them and then brought out glasses of champagne and chocolate. Unbelievable customer service. Stay at this hotel! And, on top of all of that, the rooms were comfy, affordable parking is right across the street, and you're in the heart of downtown Chicago so you're close to everything.

Excellent Merchandise Mart Location!

Posted 18-Jun-2015
Cons: The bar is not a full bar. We were unable to get certain drinks!
Location: The River is nearby, lots of restaurants and the this is truly the theatre district!
This hotel has been renovated and has an awesome after business bar scene on the Lobby Level. There is a new Starbucks linked with the hotel. Excellent rooms and the service is great!

Pros: Decor, wine reception, location.
Cons: Probably not something that can be improved upon, but the room size was very challenging. Two people in the King room was very tight!
Location: Theater, less than a mile from shopping, great restaurants!
The hotel was lovely - very neat decor and design. The coffee reception and wine receptions daily were such nice treats. The location was perfect as well! Our room has very small, didn't really have a closet or much in the way of space for storage which made the stay somewhat challenging.

Nice hotel in the heart of Chicago

Posted 14-Jun-2015
Stayed at the Hotel Allegro for one night while visiting Chicago. Overall the hotel was great. Very friendly and accommodating staff, clean room with comfy bed, convenient location downtown. The only drawback was the really thin walls. I could hear the conversation the couple was having in the room next to. Thankfully it was just a conversation 😬

Convenient location

Posted 14-Jun-2015
Pros: Location, cleanliness, well maintained.
Cons: Need coffee maker in the room. Bathroom could not be locked from inside. Need a lock there.
Location: Great for tourist as Willis Tower, museums and other tourist attractions are nearby. Also convenient for business travelers to downtown Chicago.
This hotel is in a good location for tourists and business travelers. The hotel is well maintained and the staff was friendly.

Convenient hotel.

Posted 12-Jun-2015
Pros: Very nice fitness center
Cons: Room and especially bathroom size; not really fixable, but just something to be aware of (especially for groups of more then two).
Location: Easy access to all the tourist attractions, either by foot or by the trains (just two blocks from the station).
Great location - room and especially bathroom were small, but not uncommonly so for downtown hotel. Check-in very efficient. To get around high parking, we used the Park-Whiz website which gave us a very affordable option within a few blocks of hotel.

Quiet and convenient locations

Posted 09-Jun-2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Coffeemakers in the room, especially since there is no room service
Location: Restaurants
I only spent one night there. I arrived early and they offered me another room as mine wasn't ready. I was pleased they were willing to accommodate me. The place was quiet and I slept like a baby. It was very convenient for nightlife, restaurants, etc. and only a block from the subway to O'Hare. It is an older hotel but nicely refurbished. On the down side, it does not have room service or coffee makers in the room. They do offer free coffee in the lobby in the morning, but if you don't like to have to get dressed before you have your coffee, this is a drawback.

Needs a lot of improvement

When I arrived at 1 am there were no bellboys or even carts for me to take my luggage up to the lobby, totally unacceptable for a hotel that charges US$ 500 per night. No room service and personally was unimpressed with the rooms and the hotel. For the same price next time I will stay at the JW Marriott or the W
