Great location but poor lighting and construction

Posted 24-Jul-2015
The hotel is okay. The location is great! Our original room was facing a construction site and noisy . Got another room immediately but this room was smaller and the furniture wasn't as nice . However view was better and it was quiet. The hotel is very dark in the corridors . You need a flashlight to get your key out of your purse. Really dark! Probably better to stay in the tower area but this location is not covered with Expedia. When you book through Expedia the hotel already has a designated area for your stay for the discount. The staff was okay except for when I asked to switch rooms . Then the staff was kind of rude and coming up with excuses . I've been travelling for years and I do not want to face a construction site!! Especially the noise!

Expensive breakfast. Soft mattress.

Posted 24-Jul-2015
Pros: Excellent location. Within walking distance of Magnificent Mile, top restaurants and Millenium Park.
Cons: Bathroom upgrade. Better quality mattresses.
Restaurant on premise serving breakfast was very expensive. No value for dollars spent. Mattress was much too soft, aggravating low back pain. Shower stall and bathroom door in need of cleaning or repair.

Excellent location, next to the the River Walk.

Posted 20-Jul-2015
When we arrived at the hotel, we couldn't tell where the valet parking was so we just parked in the ramp on the other side of the block. The hotel employees were helpful and informative, got us checked in on our way. The room was OK, but a bit underwhelming for the price we paid. The view was awesome from the 22nd floor we had a great view of the Chicago River Walk. Dinner at Chucks was really good and priced to match the room. There was no alarm clock in the room so we had to check our phones to see the time. The room slept pretty well and was reasonably quiet for downtown. We were within easy walking distance of Millennium Park and there was an art show just across the river. It was fun and would recommend it, just save your pennies before planning a trip to downtown Chicago.

Nice hotel with nice location to Magnificent Mile

Posted 19-Jul-2015
The hotel is nice and clean. The experience was good, except service at Chuck's was very slow and poor and the food was just ok. And I had to wait hours for Guest Services to respond to a request.

Desappointing for a Hard Rock Hotel

Posted 17-Jul-2015
I was expecting a greater hotel being a Hard Rock Hotel in the U.S.A , 2 weeks before I spent 7 days in the Panama City Hard Rock Hotel , where I was really impress by the hotel chain . Our mini bar fridge did not work for the 4 night we have spent there , we ask 3 times to 3 different person to fix it and they all said yes sir right away , and nothing was done. So we coulnd not enjoy cold drink in our room , and even lost some food we wanted to keep in our room because the fridge did not work The cost per night is over rated , and I dont beleive the deserve a 4 stars as a hotel It is well located and they have a cool option to get a free guitar in your room so you can play some gigs.

Enjoyed hotel over all

Posted 17-Jul-2015
Pros: The comfort of the room and it's location.
Cons: Clean the grout lines of the shower to remove mold/mildew.
Location: Architectural boat tour was amazing. Lots of museums, shops and restaurants all within short walking distances.
Upon arriving 10 minutes before 3pm check in was told room was not ready. Receptionist took my cell number and said they would text me when it was ready in approximately 15 minutes. 40 minutes later I went back to check in to see if the room was ready. I noticed a shift change in staff occurred and the new person said my room was ready. Fortunately we utilized the ping pong table in the lobby to pass the time. Once in the room it was found to be completely accommodating. Only down side was there was mildew in the grout lines of the shower. Two floors of the hotel are preserved for historic reasons one of which was the 13th floor where it's purported to have a room where Al Capone had a meeting. Would like to have been informed of that neat piece of history. Overall it was a good experience.

Giant room with a view

Posted 15-Jul-2015
Pros: Cool art deco, historic building with interesting prohibition era history and symbolism.
Cons: maybe only fill the fridge halfway with crappy soda and alcohol so that parents can put in a small bottle of milk to subdue their toddler in the AM
Location: Great location and great view of Millennium Park. Close to the river and downtown attractions.
We had originally booked a more expensive hotel but there was barely room to move around the beds so we checked out early and moved to the Hard Rock. Our room was massive and was reasonably priced. Everything was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Only downsides were some cracked tile in the bathroom and the minibar situation. The minibar has two problems. 1) The snacks (candy and chips priced at about $8) have a motion sensor that means they charge you for picking it up!!! I don't have to explain how this is stupid and inconvenient when traveling with small children who cannot read or comprehend the meaning of the little warning sign. 2) They pack the mini fridge with drinks and alcohol leaving no room for you to put anything in - also full of Pepsi, gross.
