Great location, but not a rocking stay

Posted 13-Sep-2014
Pros: Comfortable bed, large room
Cons: Wi-fi. Make it free. It certainly doesnt cost you $13.50 per night to provide it...
Location: Location is great - right by Milennium park.
The hotel is in a great location and in a cool building... that said, there were 3 key problems with the Hard Rock Hotel: 1) Expedia deals clearly rate low on their scale - I was on the only floor with no memorabilia on it (literally every other floor did) 2) Air con was poor. I was pretty hot every night, and no matter how low you put the aircon, it wouldnt get cooler 3) Wi-fi. It's 2014. Charging for Wi-fi on a hotel room costing this much is not on. At time of posting, wi-fi was charged at $13.50 PER NIGHT - i don't pay that per MONTH at home... They'll allow anyone who wonders off the street to use their wifi in the foyer, but those people paying for a room (and probably other services) are required to pay additional... it's crazy. Otherwise, the room was comfortable and big, staff were on the whole friendly, and the memorabilia on all floors (apart from my own) was cool. I'd go back here, but only if they start including wi-fi. If this doesnt matter to you (and you can live with being a bit warm!) they it's a good hotel

hotel was in good area, plenty to do during day

Posted 12-Sep-2014
Pros: its central position on the magnificent mile.
Cons: more to do at night
Location: magnificent mile is great for the parks and lake front, need to walk a lotto get to sears tower, hancock center, and navy peir.
enjoyed chicago but the loop area is very expensive and not much to do at night as bars etc closed early. we met up with friends staying over the river and spent more time there. if your a wine drinker you will need plenty of money as wine is expensive, but chicago itself is lovely and not as cramped as new york.

A stunning and Ideally situated hotel.

Posted 11-Sep-2014
Pros: The actual building is stunning in its own right, they have kept several floors as they were and that is a must see. The staff
Cons: Consistency of all staff
Location: In the middle of everything it is ideal. Shopping, Theater's, Walks in the park, Restaurants, Transport (Bus outside Trains around the corner)
I love this hotel the building is stunning. A truly "Iconic" building that would have a preservation order placed on it in the UK. The staff, on the whole, are excellent but some of them need to put a little extra effort in like their colleagues. They weren't bad they just weren't prepared to go that little bit extra like their colleagues e.g. I asked for a particular drink that only the other bar did to go with my meal and most staff just got it, a couple didn't saying that the restaurant didn't have a tab with the other bar??? I couldn't be bothered to argue, I'm on holiday!!, so ate up and went in the bar anyway. The Concierge (Scott) was excellent providing me with hints on places to go that you would never find even by accident. The lady who served my breakfast, I'm kicking myself that I can not remember her name at this moment arghhh!, on all but one morning a truly fantastic genuine person. The bar staff were also very good with tips about things to do and places to go that only locals would know about e.g. getting to the top of the John Hancock building for free.

Fabulous Hotel - Perfect Location

Posted 11-Sep-2014
Pros: The location
Location: Very close to Millenium Park
I cannot fault this hotel, everything was perfect from the walk in shower to the extremely comfortable bed. We were given complimentary wifi for the duration of our holiday which was an absolute bonus. The hotel is in a perfect location for both State Street and The Mag Mile, both are easily walkable. We were originally given a room by the lift but having had problems before at other hotels we asked immediately to change which was no problem at all.

I'm a regular :-)

Pros: The rooms, the staff, the location.
Cons: Those rooms with half-open shower stalls are super annoying. Those all need to go.
Location: It's on the Magnificent Mile - you're good ;-)
Pleasing, without any hitches, as usual. The location is excellent, and the rooms are spacious and attractively decorated.

Nice Hotel. Great Location.

Posted 08-Sep-2014
Pros: Ease of checking in. Clean tidy room.
Cons: Didn't care for the "techno" music at the main lobby bar but don't know what it's normally like and didn't stick around long enough to experience more
Location: Loved Emerald Loop Bar & Grill up the street. Guinness and Oysters were superb. Breakfast spread was perfect.
Enjoyed the hotel and favorite part was the location.

Modern hotel in great location

Posted 01-Sep-2014
The hotel was very clean, comfortable and staff was friendly and helpful. I cannot say enough about Sheila, the hotel's concierge. Believe me when I say she went above and beyond to be sure our family had everything we needed to enjoy the city. Located in a gorgeous historical building. The beds were awesome and the rooms very large! Walking distance to plenty of restaurants and river cruises. Would definitely stay again.
