You get what you pay for. Hotel looks like it's living in the past, but it is clean.

Very good hotel in a fantastic location!

Posted 19-Aug-2014
Hotel is older, but in good shape overall. It is not the hotel for those looking for a modern, state if the art room. The room was clean and comfortable. I really liked the old furniture, bed was very comfortable. We had a lake side view which was gorgeous. It was a little noisy bring downtown Chicago, but this was to be expected. We were right across the street from Summer Dance and close to many other parks, restaurants and activities.

Great location - a little rough around the edges

Posted 19-Aug-2014
Pros: Location, price, staff friendliness
Cons: Paint chipped baseboards in room, add hooks in room for towels
The Congress Plaza was located very near everything we needed. Staff accommodated an earlier check in (1pm) and allowed us to check out an hour later at no cost on our departure date. The hotel has some great features that added to its charm, however the room looked like it needed some TLC (lots of chipped baseboards and iron burns in carpet). It was clean and we had a good stay.

Girls trip to Chicago

Posted 18-Aug-2014
Pros: How convenient to many things we wanted to do. and the view from our room was very nice with the park right across from the hotel.
Cons: I would not want to change anything
Location: The Park, the Art Institute, the Bean at Millennium park, Stops for the Chicago Trolley.
My Daughter, Daughter Inlaw, granddaughter and My self had a very good time in Chicago. The hotel was close to many things we wanted to do. it was in our price range and was very comfortable. We are planning to stay there again next year for our Girls weekend.

Great hotel in the loop

Posted 18-Aug-2014
The hotel was nice and we enjoyed our stay but we booked a room with 1 queen bed, we received a standard room with 2 double beds instead which was a little disappointing. The restaurant had amazing food for great prices and the staff was wonderful. Awesome location.

Historic hotel with a great location.

Posted 18-Aug-2014
Pros: Location and quietness.
Cons: They need a better type of stand or shelf in the bathroom to hold makeup and hair products as well as curling iron.
Location: Great location right across from Grant Park on Michigan Avenue. We walked to Field Museum and Soldier Field and also Navy Pier.
Took a 3 day vacation to Chicago. This hotel was reasonably priced if you booked ahead. Old and historic and some of the fixtures were quite old but everything worked and the bed was comfortable. The location was the best part. About a mile from Soldier Field and the Field Museum campus and also about a mile from Navy Pier also right across the street from Grant Park. We planned to visit all of these and more and was able to do so easily. Nice view of the lake and park and plenty of eating establishments near by. We would stay here again.

Good location that's it

Posted 18-Aug-2014
The location of the hotel is great. The room smelled very bad. For some reason as soon as i get into the room i get nauseous and sick when i go out i feel fine. The front desk did offer us to change the room; we didn't though because of having to pack everything and move it as we were there for only one more night. I didn't expect luxury when i booked it nor did i have high expectation, but i was still somewhat disappointed. It had a breakfast buffet which was convenient. I think the hotel is in desperate need of renovations. The lobby is charming.

Older hotel on Michigan Ave.

Posted 18-Aug-2014
Pros: Located to popular sights like Navy Pier, Parks, and shopping. Bus stops and subway near by.
Cons: Hotel has made some updates like TVs and bedding, but needs further updates in bathroom and carpeting.
Location: Directly across from Grant Park. Very near Art Museum and Millineum Park. Not too far from Navy Pier and Soldier Field.
Congress Hotel is a large, older hotel located directly on Michigan Ave. It is across from Grant Park. There is easy access to bus transportation. Room was comfortable. Bathroom was small and shower faucet did not work well. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rates were reasonable.
