“Nice pool”

Only one thing I would change. I wish there was a hot tub.

“Great Location”

The Essex is an old hotel that has been well taken care of. It has cool art posters on all the walls. It was neat to go to the Art Institute to see the real artwork. The staff is very helpful. Only one exception was the maid who pestered us to allow her to clean. We used the "Do Not Disturb" sign and that ended the knocks on the door eartly in the morning. The pool was wonderful and had a lifeguard on duty which is unusual. The Essex supplied a free shuttle to Navy Pier, Art Institute, Museum campus and John Hancock which was priceless. We hardly had to walk at all! The driver was very knowledgeable and gave great insights on the landmarks of Chicago.

“Essex Inn was nice!!!”

We enjoyed our stay at the Essex Inn! The people were very nice, our room was clean and very comfortable. The only thing I had a problem with was the cost the use the internet service, expensive!!! I was the only dummy using it cause I had to turn in homework:( And it could use a little updating but that hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Chi-town and for that they get lots of credit cause we liked it! You could over-look all the other stuff! We had a nice relaxing time in Chicago together, and I highly recommend the 3-day chicago-go card. We saved lots of money with that card and with expedia, cool beans:)

“Excellent basic hotel”

This is a basic 2 star hotel. It had everything we needed including a free shuttle to some of the downtown sights. Would definitely use them again.

“We would stay there again”

Good location opposite millenium park and just a short walk to a number of restaurants and shops and the subway. Everything about the hotel was excellent

“pretty amazing”

one of the more affordable hotels in the area but definitely didn't feel like we were slumming! gorgeous room with a great albeit slightly obstructed view (we were on the top floor, the 15th). Has a modern and unique edge to it, Picasso print on the wall, tiny reading lights behind the bed, flat screen TV. Beds were extremely comfy, it was quiet and close to a lot of attractions and parks such as Millennium Park, the Art Institute, and Lake Michigan, not to mention bars and shopping.

“Close to everything”

When we checked in we upgraded our room. The view of the lake and park from the bed was awesome. The bed was very comfortable.Bathroom was small. Hotel will drop you off at your dest. The restaurant staff was unfriendly. Valet parking expensive but prompt.

“Great Hotel, Pushy Housekeeping”

I loved the place, it had a great location, and the price was very good. The only problem was that if you forgot to put on the Do Not Disturb sign, housekeeping would start knocking on your door every hour or so starting at 8am. Our sign disappeared after a day so we were constantly shouting, "Go AWAY, NO THANKS!" Other than that, great.
