“Surprisingly nice and affordable nice hotel”
I was a bit skeptical at first about staying here as it is in the South Side, however, do not let that deter you from staying. The neighborhood was not bad at all, it has been really cleaned up. The hotel was nice and the room was huge and the bathroom appeared to be recently re-done. It is conviently located right on the CTA 29 bus route, however the closest L (Red Line) is about 4 blocks away in Chinatown. If you are planning on staying out in the city really late (as we did) and do not want pay crazy amounts of money for a cab, you have to make the walk for the Red Line (Cermak/Chinatown). The walk was no where near as "dangerous" as people said it may be, everything was lit up real well. As I mentioned above, the price was very affordable and we would stay there again no question. The staff was very friendly and they offered a bell hop service to hold our bags after we checked out while we went to Shedd. They have a bar and restaurant, which we did not use, but it was crowded late at night. Based on the menu, it was reasonably priced too. I am not sure if they offer any type of breakfast in the morning. The one drawback to some people is that it is close to the Red Line and the train can be loud. Then again, its Chicago you hear the train everywhere, if that bothers you, stay in the suburbs. In summary: Affordable and nice in the city from the "true" Chicagians are from. Close to McCormick Convention Center, Chinatown, US Cellular Field (Sox)
“Nice place”
Enjoyed the room and the all the places inside the hotel. Not a bad rate either. Not too far from the L trains, but it takes about 10 minutes to walk there to get around. Maybe a shuttle there been a nice addition
“ethan gg”
room is big but inside so old, hair on the bed, i turn heat max still cold fan is noise. late night can hear train, i can't slept the night.
“Very good quality and good location for McCormmic Place access.”
This year I booked late for RSNA conference and hard to find a room in downtown hotels(unless I want to pay $500+/night) and found this hotel very close to McCormmic Place. The reviews are good, so I decided to give it a try and I am very impressed. The room is very spacious and clean, also very close to RSNA. Have to give it a 4-5 start rating!
“Would book this hotel again”
We stayed for 5 nights over Thanksgiving holiday. Liked hotel staff - friendly and helpful. Location is a bit remote, but an easy walk to trains in Chinatown and busses run right outside their door on State Street. With a transit pass, we had no problem getting around, both downtown and to Hyde Park. A little disappointed that hotel restaurant and cafe were closed Thursday and Friday, but that doesn't dampen our enthusiasm for this hotel. If we get a chance to visit Chicago again, we will definitely book this hotel.
“will be back”
i was truly happy with my stay while in Chicago. I will stay there on my next visit. The staff was very friendly and offered information when needed.
“good value for money would go back”
very clean and comfortable rooms, staff helpful and polite but if you want room service or fine dining this is not the hotel for you they have a good cafe which is open in the day and is great for hot snacks which suited us, the bar is very lively in the evening and we really enjoyed ourselves. The location is a little out of the way but there is a bus stop out side and we found it very easy to get to down town Chicago, its very good value for money and would go again.
“Ok for a short stay”
No good restaurants in the hotel. You have to go out for food especially if you want an early breakfast.
“Completely Satisfied”
A very nice hotel in an older part of Chicago. Clean, comfortable, and inexpensive with a nice bar. A safe neighborhood and an easy short walk to McCormick Place, Mercy hospital or State Street. Free Parking Too!!
“good hotel”
The y took forever getting us checked in and the surrounding nieghborhood wasn't great. That aside the hotel was clean and in good upkeep, it is a short taxi ride to most attractions. We were there for a bears game and they allowed us to keep our vehicle in thier gated lot until after the game. All in all would definitely stay there again at that price.
