“Maybe a little tired but very clean with good service.”
Returning from Kyoto we needed a place to stay the night before we flew home. I chose the Mercure because it was adjacent to 2 train stations (the JR and the Keisei) and the price was reasonable for Japan. The hotel was just around the corner from the Keisei station, just a couple hundred feet. It is an older hotel, not flashy, but kept very clean. Depending on which clerk I spoke with, their English ability ranged from adequate to excellent. Our room was small but clean. The beds were comfortable to us and the water was hot.
The breakfast buffet was good with rolls, omelettes, bacon, fruits, and juices. The bacon could have been a little crisper but was OK. Coffee and cappuccino were dispensed from a machine- OK, but not great. (Another option is a McDonalds a block away) The road in front of the hotel leads to the Narita Temple 800 meters away. It turned out to be a pleasant, winding walk down a narrow lane past little shops through town. The main temple is new and imposing, having been completed in 1989. Choices of restaurants around the Hotel are somewhat limited and are mostly Japanese cuisine. We tried roast eel which was tasty. Had we stayed at one of the hotels closer to the airport, we might not have bothered to go into town.
We would stay there again
