The breakfast buffet was very nice and had a selection of meat, cheese, jams etc. The first day there were boiled eggs and the second there weren't and we were disappointed! There was lovely homemade cake both days. Coffee was nothing special, too bad we weren't offered cappuccino. Nice selection of herbal teas though.
Music (classical) was played through a radio, but I would have enjoyed more some Italian music from a CD (maybe the soundtrack of A Room With A View?? :-) for the atmosphere.
The view from the terrace we had our breakfast on was dreamy.
Our room was comfy and clean and roomy and nicely decorated. The lounge was also comfortable, had nice decor and a fireplace.
We are early risers and it was nice to get up and stroll around the gardens before breakfast. Otherwise we didn't "hang around", so we can't say anything about the pool (which was still open in early September) or lounging around during the day there.
The two close towns, Castellina and Rada, were pleasant and we enjoyed strolling around in them.
Our hosts were pleasant enough but weren't exactly "warm". When we asked about a nice place for dinner, we were told there were a lot of good places in town, and nothing more.

We spent 4 nights at II Casello Country B&B and stayed in a self-contained apartment. It had everything you could ask for whilst on holidays. It was an ideal place to stay and to use as a base to explore the chianti region. Paolo & Angelica are very welcoming and friendly. They were very helpful with recommendations on places to visit and restaurants. We tried many of Paolo's recommendations and loved them all. Paolo was very helpful in booking restaurants for us and giving us directions. Taco (Paolo and Angelica's dog) was full of energy and we enjoyed having her around. She has a beautiful nature and is quite mischievous.

Great hotel and staff! Very clean. The food is excellent. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. It's in a quiet town outside of Florence. Perfect for a day trip into the city while still enjoying the peace and quiet of the countryside!

We stayed at the Villa for four nights while in Italy. I loved it from the beginning but my husband was not convienced at first. The we went to Florance for the day and he was sold. It is a great escape from the crowds and craziness that goes with driving or just sight seeing in the connecting areas. Returning to the Villas after visiting other cities was wonderful. The living space is very large for all of your needs. The bed was not the best but was fine no longer than we slept. The staff were great. We were greeted and assisted by Eleonora who ran the reception area and has worked there for over 10 years. Another female was there for one day and was just as delightful They were both so helpful with suggesting local restaurants to visit, we loved...I CAVALLACCI...which was right down the road and walkable. One also suggested that we take time to visit the city of San Gimignano on our way to Siena. It was our favorite spot and we wished that we had stayed there the entire day instead of leaving to go to Siena. Eleonora also gave us a tour of the olive making facility that is on site, explaining the process and letting us watch the men do their work....it was very interesting. She put fresh olive oil in the dining area the next morning for us to taste. So if you like the peace and quiet of the countryside this is a great place! The town is very small but the bus stop is at the end of their driveway which was convenient too.
The hotel is easy to find if you call the hotel and ask for the address to enter into gps, the address on Expedia is not good enough if you are using GPS Tom Tom Device. We easily found the hotel, it is very close to Siena and it was great. The people who run the hotel are very warm and friendly and speak English. The hotel exterior is beautiful and the interior is lovely. The facility is not 'new' it is NOT supposed to be it was built in 1700, the atmosphere shows the age of the building and it has a tremendous amount of character. The outside grounds are lovely, the pool is great, the flowers and landscaping are wonderful. I did not want to leave, we stayed one night and I wanted to extend our stay, but we could not. I would stay there for weeks, the feeling of the place and the character alone makes a trip to this hotel worthwhile.
I stayed here for 3 nights with my Aunt. We used it as a home base for day trips throughout Tuscany! It's location was perfect, being smack in between Northern and Southern Tuscany (everything is within 2 hours). Only downside, if you don't want to be driving the roads at night (which we didn't) then your only option really is to eat dinner at their restaurant. Good food there, but definitely not three nights worth of fun. It's too unsafe to walk into town and we didn't feel comfortable driving on the unlit windy roads at night. Magdalena was at the front desk and the most amazing host! She was so sweet and helped us plan all of our day trips, giving us great advice always! She was enthusiastic and always wanted to hear about our day. The view from pretty much every room or terrace at the hotel is breathtaking as well!

We returned to the Hotel Casafrassi this summer and invited friends join us there. We are always impressed by the friendly staff, the quality of the accommodation and by the silence of the grounds (even the pool area has an air of tranquility that is not disturbed by the families using it).
Sitting in the gardens in the late evening drinking the Casafrassi's own wines and hearing nothing but the cicadas is idyllic! (Try their new Super-Chianti - it will blow your mind!) To enjoy the distant views of Siena across hillsides covered in grape vines and olive trees is to experience the heart of that very English dream of what Tuscany should be!
Enchanting in every way - a true hidden gem that we shall return to many times in the future.
