“Excelent”

The only incovenience was having to go to the lobby to go online, but at least it was free, hard to get in Thailand... Overall, excelent hotel, nice room, well located.

“Good upscale Western chain hotel”

If want the cocoon of an upscale chain hotel, this place is for you. But for the Thai staff (efficient, but impersonal), once inside, you would never know you're in Thailand. The hotel has all of the Western luxury trappings along with New York prices for amenities such as spa and breakfast buffet. Those prices are ridiculous for Thailand. There is no internet of any kind in the rooms, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber. One hour of fee internet is offered in the large lobby and on the pool/gym room on the 4th floor. Having said this, hotel's location, across the street from the night markets and in the center of everything, is excellent. The infinity pool on the 4th pool is very beautiful, with a stunning west facing view of the city and surrounding mountains. While this hotel suits the tastes of those who want the same homogenous experience in any city, if you want the Thai experience, I suggest you stay at one of the luxury boutique hotels, of which there are quite a few in Chiang Mai.

“Would stay again in a heartbeat!”

This hotel was beautiful! Located right on to the night market in Chiang Mai. THe staff were very helpful and friendly. The buffet was well worth it, the chef was amazing. In fact even the hotel restaurant made delicious green curry! The hotel even smelt wonderful! Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Area recommendations
Alot of Thai cooking class and Patara Elephant Farm. I recommend the cooking class twards the end of a trip...the food you will find in restaurants won't even compare!

“Would definitely recommend”

Really good hotel - some of the service was a bit random (eg trying to clean my room at 8am on Sunday morning - I'm supposed to be on holiday!!) but the staff are very friendly and the hotel is very nice. Would definitely recommend it to people visiting Chiang Mai.

“Meridien Chiang Mai”

After staying at the Banyan Tree Hotel, Le Meridien had a lot to live up to. The staff was very charming and helpful. The room was starting to show some wear and tear, but it wasn't quite "tired and worn". Breakfast was a bit pricey, and the continental breakfast selection was good with lots of fresh fruit, breads, pastries and cereals. All in all it was a good stay, but I expected a little more for the price.

Area recommendations
Le Meridian is close to the Night Market, river front restaurants (short walk), and sevaral points of interest. It is a short hike to the old city and the Wats (temples), if you intend to do a Wat tour.
When to go
Early May seems to be the start of the rainy season. The humidity is high and the heat is fairly intense...like Houston in August on steriods. I suspect it is a much more comfortable place in winter and early spring.
Getting there
A cab to the hotel was 120 Bhat, fixed rate that can be pre-paid at the airport taxi counter inside the terminal building.
Getting around
The hotel conceirge help us hire a cab for the day that carried us to Maesa Elephant Camp, Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden, and elsewhere. Our driver was a local Traffic Policeman who worked as a drive part time. He was very knowledgeable of the areas and sites, and his English skills were good enough that we receieved some insights and advice. We hired him for a second day to visit the King's Summer Palace and Doi Sothep.

“Exceptional stay at LeMeridien Chaing Mai, Thailand”

This hotel is new, modern, clean, and walking distance from everything in town including the old city. It's right out the front door to the daily night market.

“Very impressed.”

I found the hotel to be clean, comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful. I stayed for a week and it was my home away from home! My room was beautiful with a lovely view. The location right in the middle of the night market was great.

“Fabulous Hotel, Fabulous Location”

A friend and I went to Chiang Mai for the long weekend. when we checked in, they told us that only king rooms were available (we'd requested a twin), but the upgraded us to a bigger room. We also requested a late checkout which they gave us. Overall, hotel was great. Very cool decor, very comfortable beds, great location (right across the road from the night market). we had quite a few spa treatments too, and the girls there were also fabulous. Breakfast was good, but too busy - queues for eggs were quite long and a lot of things were empty. I would definatley stay at le meridien Chaing Mai again.

“Loved our experience”

Celebrated my partners birthday here and it was our first time in Thailand. The overall experience was the very best. The hotel from the outside in impressed us from beginning to end. The room was simply perfect with beautiful interiors and great layout and space. The bed was divine with extremely soft cotton sheets. Robe and slippers provided were of best quality. And to top the visual aspect, the view was absolutely stunning. The hotel staff added to the experience. They were very friendly and prompt with any requests. They were so kind to surprise us with a complementary birthday cake which we discovered after a day out and about. This made my partners day and it tasted ever so good. We loved it here for many reasons. For all the above mentioned as well as great location and convenience. We loved our experience here and we most definitely would come back and highly recommend this hotel. The pictures you see is what you get.
